Yeah and I finally have some free time now. Finished up the radio install today!fluxcap wrote:Haha, his guilt trip in Cherokee finally got to you!
Sold the radars off Java a week or so ago. Finally got the tires swapped over to my silver brms this morning. You should have seen the look on the guys face when I pulled in with Jenny and told him I needed some tires changed.
Also prepped a set of bus spindles. I pressed them apart and blasted them. Should have them back together painted and all tomorrow!

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Well Sat, removed the Engine, Trans, CVs, Shifter Rod from the Bus. The alternator has been making noise for a while so I thought it would be a good I idea to swap it out for a good one. I have all the bushings for the shift rod, will be replacing those. Discovered the shift coupler is warn out, CV boots need replacing, want to reinstall the cargo floor isolation cover, that is on the engine bay ceiling, it's warped. Run wiring for my backup lights. Clean all the grease from the busted CV boots off the bottom of the body, clean trans. I'd like to strip and paint the front bumper at some point. The weather for later this week might hinder me getting it back together for the cruise down to Callaway.
got motor in 62
got 1776 in 62 today took it out for a ride , ran great just need to get ghia on the road now.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Buffed Jenny and started buffing on Java again. Got the roof done and called it quits.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Pulled the motor out of Judy, again. I've got to replace the rear main seal.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
My neighbor stopped by a few days ago (one that I actually get along with) and said that if I was interested he would bring me some luggage from his in-laws that they bought in the early 60s for their beetle. Not really knowing what to expect I was patiently waiting to see if he would actually bring them. Well today he came walking down the street with all four in his hands and under his arms. The luggage is not what I have seen on the samba as VW luggage but it does fit. All four pieces are different and I haven't found any markings or manufacturing info on them at all. Anyways here they are.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Installed some OEM Rivited VW rear mud flaps on Irma.
Getting ready for the Cruise to Helen tomorrow with some homies here in the NW.Ga / Chattanooga area.
Pulled off the stand offs and engine did run warmer w/o them.
May have to run them even in the winter.
Not a problem unless I want to go over 60 MPH.
Then it seems that I need a stand off to compensate for the non vented hood.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Fixed the grounding issue on the right rear tail light on Java. It ended up being a simple fix. Also put a dome light in. I had to pull out the harness and make a new one and pull it back through. Finally have light in there now! Also cut the headliner in Jenny for a dome light and again no wiring can be felt through the hole. Will have to pull out the old harness and redo it but that will be another day.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Finally bled the breaks on the SP2. Wow. Lots of air in the wheel cylinders.
Plan to change the trans fluid tomorrow.

Recovered and replaced padding on Drivers seat in The Time Machine....passenger seat next weekend, replaced spring plate bushings....there was nothing left of the old ones, finally bolted jump seat down,re installed wiper assembly after I replaced wiped shafts. Checked motor before I installed it and it worked, checked motor after I installed it only had high speed.....put wiper arms on checked again and motor burnt up. Gotta do all over again. Stay tuned

I picked up 2 dead squirels and a dead rabbit with the front pan head when I drove to Helen the other day, I think I'll get some vinyl decals of dead animals and put them on the side window...
