Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
That doesn't sound good. Wonder if your clutch cable tube has popped a weld. The squeak could be the tube flexing when you push the pedal. That flex in the tube would also keep your cable from being tight and prevent the clutch from working all the way like it should.
Or it could be your cable is breaking/stretching, or the hook on the end of your pedal may be about worn through and bending.

Sunday went and picked up a donor car(69 Bug). Surgery is scheduled for Sat. 8:30 am. Removing body from pan and hopefully moving Geek into the barn. Then one day this week or on Sunday installing Geek's power plant into the Super.

This is what the garage looks like when you sell your old wheels and tires but don't have your new set ready yet.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Been working on my 63 "slim" the past couple weeks
Body is on the pan
Narrowed the beam
All the stainless trim is on
Carpets in
Put air shocks on yesterday
Hopefully going to finish up wiring tomorrow and get the motor cranked this week so I can get it to the upholster this weekend or first of next week
If all goes well it will going to bug jam

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Got up close and personal with my wife's '04 passat auto trans pan after she low bridged a piece of concrete.
Missed the oil pan (engine), but got stuck on the Auto trans pan.
They are not cheap, so I pulled it off ground down the tear and welded it.
Changed the NASTY auto trans fluid as well as the filter.
No leaks now and runs good, no problems shifting before - I am stunned that it ran well with this other fluid in it...)
I went with the Febi fluid.
If you have an Auto trans VW, you need to change the filter and fluid, her's has 118K and it was really dark. the bottom of the pan was slimy.
Got it all done though, 3.5 hrs (including the repairs to the pan).
Could have done it in 1.5 hours if I owned a lift.
Saved ~600 doing it myself (check the prices of a pan...)

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
installed a roller pedal- I dont like messing with stock but I love the difference this makes, the direct connection to the throttle feels so much better. no more janky linkage involved , I threw away the cheap roller and installed an old skateboard wheel with nice bearings...super smooth

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Bus - Worked on getting the padding back in that goes around the front seats. I had removed them when the Bus was painted but never reinstalled. Had to drill out rivets remains and clean padding then rivet the pieces back in and install trim and screws. Now to make panels for rear of seats facing cargo area, cover and install. Got to get some heat going in this ride before Tampa trip!
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
had a blow out on my bus going to work today got a tire an the thing was all over the place i lined the front end an it was 2 inches differance from front to back
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I had the great opportunity to swap out a carburetor on the side of a highway today . I was thankful to get a ride from a stranger to my house to get the part and tools I needed. He was a really nice guy that use to drive a few VW's when he was stationed in Germany.

Got my heater box cables hooked up yesterday. The heater pipe has been wide open for who knows how long, so there is no telling what will come flying out when I open the boxes and get some air flowing. I better wear some goggles

Got to test the heat in the bus this weekend. Just a few dust balls flew out the defrost vents. But the floor vents were a different story....
We noticed a chunk of "fuzz" coming out of the passenger side vent. About every five minutes this fuzz ball would work it's way out a little more and get bigger and bigger until it finally came all the way out. Not sure what it was, looks like a mixture of fur and jute material (this is just part of it).
I had just about as much come out of the drivers side, but it was small chunks instead of one big chunk.
