Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Put 30 miles on the 60 today after picking it up from Kips. The Doodle Bugg 1641 single port really moves the car down the road! I helped Kip put in the rear window and me and Ashley put in the quarters tonight. It is really coming along now. Just need to put the passenger mirror on, carpet and rear panels in! So close now.

It sounded and looked good. We saw you on 19. We were at the Waffle House with the football team.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Worked on Moto all day trying to get ready for the Tampa trip. I have all the panels in the rear cargo area. Removed the bed and covered the foam also carpeted the front lower panel of the bed pedestal. Also finished installing new rubber seals on drivers vent window frame, need to mash the new rivet. Need to start thinking heat.
Started cleaned the shop up a bit getting ready for the tear down of Geek. I need to host a VW yard sale, I have way to much stuff that I don't need and will most likely never use.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
been out of the VW scene for a little while. painted my 72 super. the POS "OE brand" centerlink i got went out (only lasted about 8 months ). so i got a good used one, and some new moog tierod ends. but found my idler bushing is bad, so it still shimmy's like hell. and last week, my engine finally died (40 horse , #3 and #4, has no compression, oh well). So now i've just parked it, and am gonna fix all the other minor issues i've been dealing with. At the moment i'm driving my ole chevy truck (1979 C30, 4 door dually, 454, 400 trans, 5MPG )....... i miss my bug .
Anyhoo, today i worked on my sand rail. hope to have rolling in the next few weeks. just a thrash build to get my daily VW fix got the trans in today, sorta. its a late model 3 bolt IRS trans, in a 2 bolt housing. so i just added one of those mid bolt on straps (modified it a bit ). hopefully be secure enough to keep the trans from shifting. just throwing a nutha 40 horse in there, so i think it'll be fine. we'll see

Daym, nice paint job. one thing tho, i vaugely remember someone saying that the seam on the boots shouldn't go up or down because it can tear it or something. that it should go front or back. may have just been thesamba BS tho, i have no experience with swing axles (as far as working on them). just thought i'd throw it out there, just incase.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I loaned my truck to my brother for a while so I've been forced to use Pippi as a daily driver. She hasn't disappointed at all.
Last Wek: I took Pippi up to a nearby elementary school and let the entire fifth grade crawl all over her for some yearbook photos.
Yesterday: Spent the evening replacing the main seal and patching a few smaller leaks on Judy. Put the motor back in and almost got her ready to drive again but didn't have any oil in the house and I was geting tired. Thanks for the help and the company, Pete and Benjamin.

When Callahan was helping with my straight axle swap, he put the boots on my transaxle with the seams straight up as well and I mentioned the same thing to him. We accidentaly pinched one of the boots on the heater cable outlet and it ripped so I replaced it the next week. When I did, I put the new one with the seam slightly higher than 3 o'clock. 4 months later, the one I replaced had already failed, and the one Callahan put going straight up is still holding strong!
The transaxle looks awesome Callahan, hope the bus is coming along well, Bulli is barely a month away!

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Got Judy running again. The points were completely fried.
Now she has a squeak when I engage the clutch and she crunches a lot going into gear. I've adjsuted the clutch cable to the point that I'm out of threads.
