I think about this often before shows too. Then think, "well it's just going to get dirty again on the trip down" and end up doing something else.

Similar day! I pulled my old aftermarket gas tank. Then while it was clear, I replaced my steering coupler. Then replaced my fuel filter. Then installed the original VW tank I got a while back and cleaned up. The wasted about 2 hours messing with the 68 speedometer I got from Bob. I have two different 68 speedometers, two sending units, 5 different gas gauges, and three of the vibrator things, and can't get anything to work. What did you do to your volkswagen today? Icon_evil I've been messing with this setup for about 8 months now. Today I officially gave up on it. What did you do to your volkswagen today? Icon_lol I have more important things to do. Friday I have to change oil, points/timing and get the carb dialed in.

Here is my refurbished tank.

If you have to do it again, get a $2 bag of aquarium rocks. They work great!! Oh yeah, after the rock treatment you need to remove the screen/sock if not before. It will be damaged using this method, but never made sense to me to have one. Trap the trash in the tank or in a filter...I can change a filter easily!
