Yesterday I did the brakes on Herbie. Four new drums, all new shoes, and adjusted the valves.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Well java is running decent again.... still need to look at the needle valve and replace the brake pressure switch (i hate them.....seems like everytime i turn around i am replacing one....
Also got Jade idling and sounding a little better.....something with the distributor....i changed it out with another i had and it started running again.... guess we will see tomorrow commuting to work
Finally got the tag on the single wheel trailer.....Also picked up the engine case for the fire....came up empty on wood though....

Took apart the front beam on the '67, I'm going to have Clyde press in new ball joints, and then build back everything with new parts. I did destroy the sway bar mounting brackets, wish I'd soaked them a couple of days ago with the PB Blaster. Oh well, maybe I'll find some at the Silver Dollar Showdown tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
After 2 solid days of working on the '73. Everything is done on the exterior, engine, and electric except for the passenger door. But I put it all together anyway. Flat white care with a satin ivory door. But I drove it tonight. I will update my build thread with pics tomorrow.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Drove a few hundred miles to pick up a new toy, not VW but will follow one! Now get to do some fabbing on the hitch so it will fit correctly and I can put the bumpe back on! Wanted a classic one, but for the price and repairs needed on an older one I got this one. A few changes and it will look like an oldie.

Washed the ashes off O'Bugga last night, he was really bad. Picked up some better camping gear!

Yep, I did that the second we got home. Just rinsed it off real good and ran a rag over it. Still need to hit the ragtop with a soft bristle brush or something. It's textured and has ash in every deep spot on it.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
ive noticed a light tap the past few days, and i can't seem to figure it out. i adjusted the valves, and still nothing. today i noticed a loud FLAP FLAP FLAP noise only at full throttle, no matter how fast i'm going or what RPM. if i'm cruising at 50 in 4th and floor it, the flap noise happens. if i'm going 20 stick it in 4th, and floor it, the flapping noise happens, but at low RPM no noise. for 10 minutes it may to the flapping noise, the next ten minutes it may do a loud TAP noise. i changed the oil from the half 20-50 and straight 50 weight (35 weight?), to 5w-30, and it didn't make a difference. so i would assume that would atleast rule out a rod knock, because if i use a thinner oil, it should have gotten alot worse. anyoo, my last thought is that it may be a blown exhaust gasket. i guess i'll find out tomorrow

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Possible spark knock being under load? Maybe timming a bit off or loose belt or you might have picked up a bag or trash in your fan.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Washed my '67 Beetle (in the rain, makes rinsing a breeze)
Then, I took a picture of the '57 in the garage so you could see the '67 in the reflection
