Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
put a new set of HID's in the bug. these have an HID and halogen bulb in the same H4 bulb. i wired it so the low beams are HID's and when i flick the high beams, the halogens click on, and the HID's stay on. gives it a really cool effect. an alternating effect of blue and orange lines, and the middle of the road kinda mixes into a purple-ish color. pretty neat.
my relay then decided to crap out on me. it would stay on high, and not click down to low. took the origional VW relay apart. there's an arm on the side with two grooves. a flexible flap goes down onto one groove, and pushes the arm down, then it stays down, and when the flap goes down again, it hits the other groove, and popps it down. the groove was worn, causing the flap to go into the same groove, and not relese it. just had to carefully bend the flap to the side till it worked perfectly. put it back together, and it works flawlessly.

Installed the carpet; not new but pretty nice salvaged carpet. Thanks Pete.
Then I tore a nice hole in my pinky finger while re-installing the seats. Got is snagged on one of those little spikes that hold the upholstery on.
Still gotta work out the brake light and wiper issue.

added some roof art (still more to come) and worked at getting some of the interior back where it belongs.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Raised the rear of Warbird and replaced the spring plate bushings while I had the chance. The horrible "CLUNK" that happened every time I hit a bump is now gone. Had to adjust the hell out of the headlights for new raked stance. Brakes are still an issue. Going to have to pull my new drums and get them turned just to eliminate that as a problem. New development: grinding when going into second now.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Picked up this 60 today that I will be building for a buddy. I bought the car in December but just haven't had a chance to get it. Also got some extras with it.
Got the front clip to go on O.B. someday...

Broke a set of points on the ride to work. Cold as hell at 6am on the side of the road. Record time for replacement though. Who the hell is making the Bousch points these days?

Some people hate em but I've only had one fail in 15 years of driving and that was when I tried to static time it like an idiot.rpm750 wrote:bumblebuggy wrote:Pertronix. Note to self: Change dizzy in bug.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Checked timing on Geek when I got home. I also installed a deck lid spring, tired of using a long screw driver to hold it up. And got a spare together, put it on the rim and blew it up with my air compressor. Went together just fine no need for the redneck tire trick!
