I swapped to my dual Empi 34's today. Right from the first start they run ten times better than the single Weber 40 did. I think I may have to go leaner on my main jets as it is a little sluggish under full throttle, but still better than it was.

Pulled the engine in Leon. Then stripped it to a long block. Pulled out my $25 engine and wire brushed it, replaced the missing studs, changed the auto stick oil pump out, put in a missing spring washer on one rocker arm, torqued the heads down and then put all my tin, intake, generator stand, generator, carb, and exhaust on it from the other engine.

Going to get an adapter mount from Gary in the morning. Just need to pull the fly wheel back off replace the main seal, fly wheel o-ring, gland nut, weld up a small hole I made in the exhaust and put the adapter mount on and she should be ready! Shocked

Went and picked up rack at the performance powder coating Jonesboro, cheap, cheap and cheap. 75 bucks for 8 ft rack. Quoted 150 when dropped off and only charged half, I asked the guy if that was correct and he said yes, made my day.

Allison sand blasting . It is in Gainsville near the Amtrak station. Mickey the owner has been doing it for 25+ years, he is a super cool guy and does great work. The car came out very clean and no panels were warped. Tell him Chris with the beetle sent you, I'm sure he will be glad to work with you. He also has had Volkswagens before. It was funny , when I pulled up with the stripped body on the trailer he came out and said " I used to own a 69"..... I had not even said anything to him or told him what year it was before hand....I dunno, That made me feel a little better. He also has an old Studebaker truck sitting in his shop that the owner of died , when it was being sandblasted.

Installed the '62 pop out windows in the '63, and installed an Autometer Electric Oil pressure gauge. OK pressures, happy I do not have to rely on the idiot light only now. After 2 hours drive in 100* weather it idles at 10 PSI and runs at 1/2 throttle at 25 PSI.

Cooler drive back up interstate at 70MPH shows 4-5 PSI improvement to both numbers.

Finally got my car running again. Having an AutoStick can bring about some really challanging issues. I rebuilt the servo, new vac lines, cleaned the control valve and adjusted a bunch of little things and was down to last trick before having a new clutch installed. There is a sensor in the gear shift to tell the control valve to engage the clutch. The sensor was worn out and that was causing the car to slip out of gear and not run. I replaced the sensor and took a while to re-adjust and line up the gear shift and now she is running again. Yes.
