Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Will do. It's really odd though. It's the same ground for the turn signals and the the rear driving lights and those work just fine.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Got halfway through rust bulleting the undercarriage of the bus. Very time consuming process trying to hit every nook and cranny. Finally had to call it quits when the paint smell started stinking up the house. While I was under there, I also saw that my front shift rod bushing and rubber boot were just sitting on the rod and not where they should be. The boot fell off when I touched it, so I guess I'll be ordering all new shift bushings. Better to notice it now I guess. Was likely going to be pulling the transmission anyways to replace some gaskets and get it sealed up. One more thing to add to my ever growing list.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
got the doors off my 74 super (so glad i have an impact driver), lol. then got the body off. damn PO welded a plate from the seat track to the body for some reason. had to cut that off. then realized when the PO replaced the rear passenger pan, they used so much friggin seam sealer they essentially bonded the pan to the body. spent over an hour with a torch and scraper trying to get enough off to tear the body loose. had about a 1/4'' thick of sealer smeared across the pan and heaterchannel. anyhoo it eventually let go. next step is lots and lots of sanding, wire wheelin, and POR-15'ing. you kno, the fun stuff

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Fought with trying to fix the brake lights. I'm completely baffled with this one everything looks good but the lights just don't come on.
So I moved onto the wipers, which worked fine before I disassembled the car. They seem to be getting power too but just wouldn't work.
So I tried to replace the speedometer light bulb and ended up dropping it inside the speedometer.
Successfully installed a new interior dome light and license plate bulb. Then installed fresh air hoses.

Picked up a new project! It will be a little while before I get to it though. I pressure washed it on the way home at the local car wash. Then started emptying the trash and pine straw out of the inside when I got it unloaded.

So I was very careful not to get the rust bullet on my skin the other day (wore a mask, long sleeves, gloves), but a few drips did get into my sleeve and onto my wrist. Holy crap my forearm has been on fire yesterday and today . It looks like I have poison ivy and man it itches like crazy! Today it's looking a little better though. When I get back under there to finish this project I'll be taping my gloves and sleeves together

Put two windshields in The Smokey Nugget one old one"cracked"and one $30.00 new one still ended up with a few cracks..... at the last 4" of rubber, man what a pain in the anus this was, most difficult one I have ever done . Think we figured out why it goes in too tight. Gonna need a shaving where dash was cut n rewelded. Try again whenever I get a few windsheilds from Gary. Woo!!
