Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I bought a front clip for O.B. I picked up a glove box pull and a micro flare in the deal for the clip.
Also got some engine vents coming for the single.

Those are cool. Here is the set I keep in the bus. Picked up at a garage sale a while back....

Today? Well, ran out of gas (Yes, again ) -with an empty gas can, then after filling that, and getting the car to the pump- then it was time for a jump start.
What a day- and I still love my'dub!
I knew I shoulda installed that gas gauge over the weekend!

There's an old saying "You can lead a Don Hall to gas, but you can't make him use it".

Maybe he could get a reserve tap for the bottom of the tank-

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Not so lucky getting home tonight (Like last night was a cupcake!)
Had to leave the Knight a mile or two up the road. It seems the rear axle on the passenger side had the cv bolts back out and it dropped the axle off the back of the wheel. Kinda dark under there tonight- so going back in the morning with a few tools, spare bolts and a towbar for back up. She's in a parking lot, out of harms way at least, and it wasn't more than a short walk home.
(Always gotta look for those things to be thankful for!)
But at least I had gas this time!
Hope ya'll have a good morning!

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Uh-oh ......well.....ummmm........... as you can see, my assistant was busy on the phone when I was doing those CV bolts. He was supposed to be making sure they were tight. I tried telling him we should put some mighty putty on the threads, but he just wasn't listening.
Hope you get it sorted out!

Eric,
His hands look a little dirty. Maybe the phone was dirty?
A few months back I had an axle back out on my 914, did way more damage then just stop rolling (smashed starter, broken linkage housing, bent shift rod etc). They make safety wire kits for the 914 axles, not sure if you guys have looked into that.

The same thing happened on my 914. But mine broke like 4 bolts after the others fell out. Thank Z06 vette. You just had to pull up next to me at the red light

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Pete stopped by after work and helped me put the front and rear glass back in. Getting the chrome strip into the gasket was the hardest part. Thanks again for the help Pete.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Looks great!!
That chrome strip is the reason why you see so many running the cal-look type of seal....... but you showed it who is boss!!

Nice job putting the chrome back in it looks a 100 times better!
I put a new shift coupler in the bus and a tag light. Shifts like new now! Also went through and tightened all the cv axle bolts.....hahaha

I was lucky, Michael had the back chrome strip in, and had a good start on the front chrome strip- what a wrestling match!!
With Michael, Victoria, and Rachel on the outside, my job on the inside was much smoother- glad that I was able to help

Got the passenger side axle back in yesterday- in time to get to work
Found I will need new boots, and to replace a bent and a broken bolt on the CV.
