Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Yeah it is a pretty simple bracket. That was my plan if one didn't turn up. I already had the measurments to fab one up and then when I least expected it, I found one...

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I installed a Shark radio in Edith today. Its made for a motorcycle but does great in the beetle. 2 speakers mounted low down toward the middle under the dash and the head unit is inside the glove box. And it has a wireless remote. It's 100 watts. $68.00 Shipped. Sounds good and has am/fm, sd slot and usb slot. No molested dash and still OG radio. Great idea... If I must say myself!!!

Can you run it into a separate amp if you want to?

Grifspop, I don't think you can hook an external to these. You can get these radios starting from 100w to 600w though. And some come with a subwoofer. Mine won't blow you out of the car but it is loud enough to listen to and it will sorta kinda drown out the pan against blacktop sound...Well somewhat... Also Shark, Pyle, Hog Tunes is brandnames of these if your searching.

Thanks, I've already got the amp and speakers, but I like the idea of not cutting the dash or glove box and just having the head unit hidden and using a controller

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Oh ok. I drilled a very small hole in the bottom corner of my glovebox to run my wires through. And 2 holes just above my knee in the middle under the dash. My car is ratty so the holes didn't bother me. But I understand on a nice car...

What gets me is when I see an Oval with a DIN radio in the dash- but some people gotta have their tunes

Almost ran off the road, foggy glass and poor wipers. Managed to get rid of the passenger wiper. It was thrown off the car about 2 miles further. Wiper upgrade on the way!!!!!!

I knew that you wanted to lower it- but that's a bit extreme!

Finally replaced the clutch cable on the bus.....also replaced the bolt that was used for the cable pin....i think it was binding and making the cable fray....

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Finally gave in- dropped my carb off at ProFlow for a good cleaning.
Now I can work on all this airbrushing, and not be distracted by the VW in the shop next door!
There's nothing quite like the combined smells of solvent and cigars!

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Got the bus registered Friday. Me and Kelly spent most of yesterday putting in windows, sanding, and doing a little painting. Today we installed the decklid, put the glass in the rear hatch and then did some cruising around Newnan. Put just over 30 miles on it for it's first cruise. We were pretty high on fumes by the time we got over to Bob's house, so I really need to get the seal on the rear hatch. Need to get the seals on all the other doors as well to keep the rattles down, but man it was such a blast cruising around!!!!

Replaced most of the hard brake lines on the 66 Beetle plus installed the new gas tank. Hopefully, brake bleeding will go well and she'll have brakes again.
