was drivin, went to turn right, kept goin straight. the splines on my aftermarket Grant wheel hub stripped, and i had no steering, lol. had to force the wheel sideways for it to grip so i could steer. had to put the ugly stock wheel back on for now.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I sold the 66 square a week or so ago to fund the single that I got put in the garage yesterday. Also sold the 71 ghia and picked up a set of 15" bus rims today. I also started working on fluxcaps spindles. I got them apart and one cleaned up. I should finish them in the morning.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Drove Warbird to a friends house.
Broke the clutch cable about a mile from his place.
Limped the bug to his house thinking I'd change the cable in his driveway.
Left my spare bug cable in the garage.

Made it back to my car. Took the pedal out and the hook for the clutch cable is broken. Anyone on the south side have a pedal assy I could borrow/buy. Bug is stuck in PTC till I can get one.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
rebuilt the carb and tried to reinstall the glass. No luck on the glass. My wife and daughter were afraid to push any harder. They thought they were gonna break the glass. I'll try again tomorrow.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
installed an early model wheel with horn ring (thanks gordon) on my 72 super. it hit the wiper switch arm, so i tried heating it up and bending it back to clear the wheel. worked good, arm was still a little close so i heated it up again, and tried to push it back some more, pushed to hard, and broke the wiper arm off . there's still about 1.5 inches of the arm sticking out, so i can still turn the wipers on, still sucks tho, lol.

I pulled the 17s off the square, changed the rotors and put the four lug rollers on. It's ready to head to Orlando!

I want to try and squeeze them on the green square now....not sure if I can make them work though
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I figured out the hard way that my slammed 65 doesn't drive worth a crap in the rain. The rear wants to come around. I guess when only an inch of tread is on the road and it's worn some what else could I ask for. I didn't crash but the pucker factor came into the picture a time or two...

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I got the 66 running. Ran like crap at first then started trouble shooting backwards and found the choke on the carb is nearly frozen, Played with it a little and got it to run nice. Will order a rebuild kit, but it ran very smoothly. This weekend will be brake rebuild time and maybe a trip to the gas station.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
me and drew baker were goin to ksu and i hit a bump and my headlights went out right near a cop.. so i get pulled over didn't get a ticket but he was a dick.
so we check all the fuses and they were fine just the low beams would work
so we look into after we get to ksu and the wire from the relay to the fuse block came off. drew tries to put it back on and it breaks... good thing i had my wiring kit with me we put a new connector on and only one high beam works...
so tomorrow im going to see if it just burnt out or what..
also my fuel gauge hasn't worked for a while and on the way home every bump we hit it would go past full then to half then empty so ill try to figure that out tomorrow also

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
carefull, my bug did something similar to that where the gauge would bounce around like that too. i eventually took the sending unit out, and it turns out the winding of wire had somehow melted, and was actually burned, like it had actually caught on fire. pretty scary thing to happen in the gas tank. not sayin thats what happened 2 your car, but i'd say its worth a look. also check the connectors on the gauge, and sending units. and also on the ground wire going from the gauge to the body ground.
