Drove it to work. Hit a small bird and a cardboard box that a HCPD car threw up at me. No noticeable damage but my toes are still cold. I'm a little worried because these things seem to happen in threes.

I love driving mine everyday but thats the stuff that I worry about the most and then the deer, dogs and old people!
Drove mine to work today still leaks oil, I think its coming from between the case halves. Ran really well no over heating but it was cool today.

I was given a 70-71 decklid that was dented badly at the bottom today so I cut the vents out of it so I can make a vert decklid. I also had great hinges on it so I drilled them out and kept them.

UPS just delivered my Mexi-beetle hood and deck-lid rubber. It will be a much better look and an easy install; plus it won't trap water. I wonder why it took VW so long to change to this type of seal.

Where did you buy it from and how much was it? Aircooled.net?

It was Aircooled.net and with shipping both pieces were $54.00 and change. Kind of pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Well spent $800 on the wifes VW to get it right, still have about $300 more to go..... Spent $50 on the euro to find out I need about $600 more worth of work to get it to pass emmisions! But I do have headlights now so FTW I can drive when I want to!!!!!!!! Damn I hate these wcvw's!

Did get my door panels test fit on the DC, so one step closer to going back all acvw!!!! And picking up my other 58 panel in 45 hours, so the acvw side is gaining on the wcvw side.

Oh yeah, hoked up Rock Band for the kids, so now they are happy at home and I have more time for the v-dubs vs playing chauffer.

Fed-X just delivered my narrowed sway bar and my castor shims. I'll install the sway bar today and the castor shims.

It seems that J-Bugs had the best price on the sway bar and shims. I noticed some sites offered the swar bar then add the urethane bushings and then add stainless clamps like they come separate
when Bugpack sells a kit with everything in it. Unless I read things wrong.

Well got the sway bar on and now I'm tired. It's a job for one person. I tye wrapped the bar close to position it needed to be and then fought with the clamps and the bushings. It would have been easier with two people but I persevered. I missed lubing the large bushing on the passenger side (Brain fart) and I'm praying it doesn't squeek. Maybe after the clamps are installed they will take shape and be easier to re-install if it does squeek.

I'll do the castor shims tomorrow because I don't have the longer lower beam bolts.

Well I installed the caster shims this morning. It was pretty easy. I jacked the front end up and just loosened the top beam bolts and loosened the bottom beam bolts more. I used a pry bar and slid the shims into place between the lower tube and the frame head pocket. Snugged the bottom bolts a little and torqued the top bolts to specs and then the bottom bolts.

It turns out that I didn't need the longer lower bolts I picked up at ACE Hardware yesterday afternoon. Those bolts were $4.00 each. I'll hang on to them in case I need two shims per side.

Drove 500 miles and picked up my other 58 panel! Brother/sister to my other 58. Both logoed, both built same month, 344 numbers between the vins! Only real difference is one is walk thru the other bench. Going to pull it inside and let them hang out together and catch up until I get the bay done. Then its on! Going to jump on the walkthru first and get it on the road. So stoked to get it here, bought it last year and finally made it home!!!
