Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Sorry about the bad luck Gary.
I haven't done anything to the cars the past couple days as I have been working on their home.....I closed in the carport. Still have to put up the siding and then stain it but it is dried in now!

Thing work continues, pulled out the master cylinder and all the front brake lines. Tie rods are rebuilt with new ends. Crap, now I have to put all this back together???

First engine pull without carport . Laying in dirt. I look like I just climbed out of a foxhole
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?

I also went ahead and adjusted the valves and changed the oil.
Then after I thought everything was good again I walked outside........A lady that stopped by the shop earlier to have her trans fluid checked backed into my Bug and left It tweaked the bumper a little and put a dent in the fender and chipped the paint. After a little work, buffing, and touch up paint you can hardly tell. I just don't understand people.
Glad that you didn't have to replace the head on Shadow, but it sucks that some lady hit the car. You know what they say, "What comes around, goes around", hope that lady's ready to replace a transmission.....

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Nothing but driving it. It's been our family car for the last few weeks. Just got the wife's RX8 back from the dealership. Sounds weird but we got lucky and it was the engine. Engine has 100K warranty on it so they replaced it under warranty, $0 out of my pocket.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
lol, i've done that twice. i got pretty good at driving without the clutch. the last time i broke the cable, i drove it for 2 days afterwards, because i was too lazt to replace it, lol.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Luckily I was about 3/4 mile from the Yard sale. I used Mark's jack and moving blanket. He had a really nice used Bowden tube that I replaced my POS one with. Clutch feels much better now.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
got the 66 home. we changed the 28 pict for a 30. put some seafoam in the oil and gas tank. pulled the tank, cleaned out the lines, reconnected everything back up and took her for her first drive since 1989. cranked right up. all lights (except one headlight) work. all interior lights. even the light in the saphire 3. i forgot to check the dome light. amazing deal man!
we gave her a purple power bath and marveled at how beautiful the patina is. oh man.
we stripped the interior and cleaned it out.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Smelt gas last night in the driveway. Found a wet spot in front of the right rear wheel and behind the right front wheel. Moved the car to flat ground and the spot appears under the center of the gas tank. I had to drive the car today but the smell of gas is very strong. Guess Ill pull the tank and see whats going on...............
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Thing brakes are nearly complete, just need to change out the right rear hose. After that, the brake bleeding fun begins.

Got my engine painted, assembled and installed yesterday (a 14 hour project) - hope to be 'dubbin before the weekend! Running out of Sunday beer probably helped! Thanx to Sarge for his help, and the photos too.
