Wired up the hazzard switch I bought at BAP. Put it in the glove box. Thank god for wiring covers! The back of my dash looks like a rats nest of wires.

Sorry Malik won't be there for this one.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Bob, that's not far off! I even have one of those big inline fuses. I pretty much know where everything goes, but if I ever sell this car (not likely anytime soon) the next owner will be saying "the previous owner is an idiot". I've got spools of green, red, and yellow wire, so that's pretty much the colors I got back there. I may clean it up one day, but I know I'm lazy, so I doubt it.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Not sure Malik, we had talked about doing it one week in Griffin and the next in Newnan. I'd like to find a place in Newnan and stick to it!

That's not Eric's car, I got that from Google Images. I thought it was funny, better be in a warm climate. They used the heater duct to run the wiring through. How crazy is that? Looks like a crazy relay setup to control a host of things.......
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Fuel injectors just arrived FEDex. Looks like I'll be installing them after work and driving it to the show tomorrow.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Put the new injectors in and cranked it up. It seemed to be running just fine so I took her for a spin around the block.peregrine67 wrote:Fuel injectors just arrived FEDex. Looks like I'll be installing them after work and driving it to the show tomorrow.
A mile down the road she started smoking all over the place and lost compression.
<sigh>So, it looks like I'll be pulling out the motor and rebuilding it, unless somebody has an other motor that I could buy real cheap. </sigh>
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
she doesn't smoke at all when she's just idling. I'm gonna change the oil again, put in some marvel mystery oil and just let her idle for a good long time and see if that lubes up the valves and rings etc. I figure it can't really hurt and if it looses things up I may postpone a rebuild.

New arm rests today in the Ghia. A thorough wash, clean and a polish. Made the chrome sparkle.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
realized that when properly aired up, its MUCH easier to spin tires . First time i've ever done a true power slide. . I think the chassis mount stopped a lot of the wheel hop on my 72. So basically there are no motor mounts, tranny is bolted straight to the frame horns. and there really isn't a whole lot of vibration either. I thought it would be worse. Gotta love that high po stuff

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I think I'm gonna put stickers all over the peeled headliner in my Westy. Rather than clutter up the bumper I'd put the bumper stickers on the headliner.callahan wrote:pulled that yucky old headliner out last night, going to clean off all that insulation and glue this week maybe throw some paint, we'll see how it looks cleaned up

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I finally got around to working on my windshield wipers today. i was kinda forced to, lol. on the way to BAP it was kinda annoying for the wipers to take 5 mins to go across the windshield and back . anyhoo, got it all apart, and discovered one of the wiper shafts was siezed. was able to pull the shaft out of the collar, and clean all the old grease and junk out. then took a little 2000grit sand paper, and got most of the rust off. now it turns nice a freely. the only thing i'm lacking are the teflon? bushings for the linkage. anybody have any idea where i can find them?
the plan tomorrow, is to get the motor nice and greased, and maybe even get the linkage sanded down, and painted.
