Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
What carbs are you running? If no luck there is a place here in Mtta that specializes in carb kits. They have had just about all I needed. I think they are called carborator specialties on the South Loop of 120. Near 41.59 Euro Rag wrote:got my carb rebuild kits in for the oval, wrong size again!!!

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
drove the oval to work today! about half trip the rear wheel started wobbling, turns out the axle ate half the teeth when the brake drum came loose. sourced a new brake drum from a buddy planned to put it on tonight after work. then i went outside to move it back and forth to see if it was the brake drum and when i parked it I walked around and found a big puddle of oil underneath it...
looks as if is is coming from behind the pulley, im pretty sure its not the oil sending unit because usually it drips on the tin when it leaks, the oil is dripping from the bottom of the pulley tin to the ground.....

not sure if i'll make it. But i did get the whole system pretty much installed, and working. sounds AWSOME!!! there are two settings on the amp for each set of channels (one for channel 1/2 and the other for 3/4). i have the 12's on channel 1 and 2, and when i set it to normal bass, it still thumps a bit, but sounds perfect. a good balence of low mid and high. but when i hit the switch to ex bass, the whole friggin car shakes at 1/4 volume. if i turn it all the way up, i think my ears would start bleeding . Didn't think it was gonna be that extreme, hahahahaha. its soo loud, the front hood starts vibrating, even tho the speakers are in the back, lol. i really wasn't going for loud, just quality, but i have both, so i'm not complaining, lol. I'll post some pics later.
the only things left to do is to actually mount the 6's. right now they are just sitting on the floor, lol. gonna make some forms, and mount them under the dash. might also buy some tweeters, just for a little extra high, as it seems a little too bass-y even when turned all the way down. but its definately a hell of a lot better then driving in silence.
P.S. Oh, and you can't even hear the engine, when at 1/4 volume

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Ole change, dwell check, valve adjustment, timing and a bath.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Adjusted the valves. Checked trans fluid. Fixed one of my heater tubes. Installed a power outlet so I could plug in my heated seat.
Butt and lower back still warm.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Started cutting the parts single cab apart. Got the roof off, the nose off, both doors, and the gates. Still have to remove the rear bumper, cut out off both corners, and remove the beam and tranny.....
Also tightened up the front tranny mount on Jade. Seems to have solved the problem.
Replaced the speedometer cable in Java only to find out the reason it broke is the speedometer itself.....

Why is that? how did the speedo cause the cable to break? i have been going thru speedo cables like crazy. maybe i have the same problem???
Also, its seems i F@#KED up something on my radio install. nothing major, just a little newbish mistake, lol. for the past few days the radio kept resetting itself everytime i shut it off. couldn't figure it out, untill i went thru my user manual like 5 times. turns out i switched the power wire and the switched wire (the one thats usually linked to the ignition, that turns the radio on). so long story short, TO the radio, its as if i'm cutting all power to it everytime, i cut it off. also there is no fuse on that line (except for the one on the radio itself), and the switched wire has a fuse. just got to switch them around tomorrow, and all will be well again, lol

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Well I spent the day dealing with my dubs. First I change the oil and oil filters in the HAVOC AND two ghia's. Then I finally got rid of the sway bar on the bug,it was just to low. Then I got rid of the crapy shifter in the 69Ghia. Things was not going good but think I lost something so fix that in the morning.
And yes guys I finally got my avarta up here. Thanks for the help guy LOL!!!

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Worked on the gas tank a little bit more this morning. Just some more sanding getting it ready for paint or powdercoat. Probably just paint it since I have carpet in the trunk and I won't really see it much anyways.
Also called the paint shop about the yellowing of the white areas that were reprayed during the deer repair. He said it was "bleeding out" which can occassionaly happen. Told me to drop it back off anytime and he would respray it. I probably won't get it down to him until after the Diner cruise, but I'm excited to get it taken care of. The yellow doesn't show too much in the bright sun, but it shows really bad on overcast days like at the BBQ place last weekend.
Now I have to do some real work work.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Broke down the top end of the Jolly Rancher engine today. Sparkplug threads on both heads are shot and I see hairline cracks between the valves.
Looks like new heads are on my shopping list now.

Syncd the carbs, tinkered with the linkage, and timed the buggy engine (currently in the bus). Loaded the case in the back to take to Proflow.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
took out my pedal cluster- brake return spring was messed up - causing my brakes lights to stay on and run down my battery.
Cleaned them up when they were out, I had never noticed that zerk fitting on them before. A lot smoother now.
