adjusted timing and took it to the trails for a little family hike.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I got the engine, trans pulled out. I pulled out the shiftrod to replace the bushings and went ahead and cleaned and painted the front rod. I also pulled the front door window frames and started pulling them apart to put new ones in. Also I put on my new passenger side mirror that Drew got me for Christmas.

Ordered a set of mahle rod bearings from advance auto, for the motor for my rail project. came to $10 with my employee discount. and the best part, is no shipping . and it'll be here on tuesday. Still gotta order the main bearings. they are about $45. not too bad, considering no shipping. just a little broke from the holidays, hahaha.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Dropped off my BRM's and tires to have them mounted up, will stop by today on way home and pick them up. I'll post some pics of a car with them on it!
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Bought 400+dollars worth of stuff from cip1.... Did get three spare rims so that was most of the cost.... one brm, one radar, one torker......
I just like seeing cars with matching spares....and since they were on sale I figured why not....

Drove ASBug 67 miles through the mountians north of Chattanooga TN with the SCVF polar bear road tour.
I love the old autostick, no shifting - just leave it in 1 the whole time your going up the hill following the bone stock 4 spds. They kept having to shift up and down. Zoom Zoom.
Had alot of fun with my two young 'uns.
Have a great new year everyone!

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
cut floor pans of and tried to fit the wheels but im going to need some adapters around 3/4 -1 inch thick that go from 4on130mm to 4on 100mm
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I have heat in the waterbug. I added a "ten amp" lighted three speed blower switch to the 250cc Kawasaki Ninja radiator fan that forces air through the heater box. The fan pulls five amps at start up but settles down to four amps or less depending on the speed selected. I had to flip the fan blade over so it would push air instead of pulling. My home made heater box is working great because I used a 1994 Chevy Caprice heater core so it's toasty in a short time. I hooked a choke cable up to the heater valve to control the flow of heated water through the core. The heater vents point straight down on the foot wells. I am begining to love this waterbug.
Next I will hook up the radio and cd player I installed in the passenger side of the dash and buy some good speakers then I'll have tunes.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I checked the front brakes in Java. The drivers side drum needs to be turned...... I freed up the adjusters while I had the drums off. I then adjusted the shoes which were due for an adjustment. I still have to do the rears but it already has a better pedal...
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?

I spent most of the day fitting the rear cargo floor in the bus. Hope to have it at least tacked in tomorrow. I'll post pics the 60s section when I finish it.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Prolly had way more fun then what was legally allowed, hahaha. Me and a buddy went to to the empty publix (it closed down) parking lot, and starting doing doughnuts, ice burnouts, etc. then went home and did the same thing, except in the mud and ice. went to go clean off the bug, only to discover the water hose was full of ice. spent prolly close to an hour clearing it, and finally cleaned all the mud and crap off, lol.
So in short, today i spent the day shortening the life of my motor
