Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Cleaned on the outside of the Bus today. Top was black from sitting under trees so I used some purple power and started scrubbing. Now the top is nice and white again. Also reinstalled the sink and started pulling the old window tint off.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
mildew loves that old fiberglass. You'll have to do that at least once a year to keep it looking nice.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Trying to find westy flooring has stalled some things on my bus. Hit the underside with Rust Bullet. Would have used POR but for the life of me, I can not store it without it setting up so I decided to use the rust bullet. I used it on the underside of the 68 porsche and it held up great.
Since that was done I could start installing pedals and the steering column. Brake return spring is broken so need to order a new one.
I also stripped and rattle canned the spare beam I have, so I can just install it in with all new parts once the bus is painted.. I just did not have it in me to pull everything out to spray it inside so went the easy way with Krylon.
Also ordered the rivet tool and stainless rivets and rebuilt my westy windows. If anyone needs some rivets or to borrow the tool I have it.
And glass installed and my rebuilt 67 wiper assembly.

Installed a tow hitch on the snow cone bus and gave it a work out towing a new project.....
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Re-aimed my headlights-
Once you drop a Squareback 2 clicks in front, your headlights are good for about 6 feet in front of the car- I can't believe that I drove home from Bug-a-Paluza in the dark with those headlights

Finished pulling the rest of the window tint except for the one window behind the cabinet. Did some more cleaning and started buffing the paint.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I had to go out to the shed and dig out the spare air filter I had out there. Reson why is that when I got home on Friday, I found that oil had leaked from the oil bath cleaner all over the carb.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
On the way to Michael's house this A.M., one of the brass fittings popped out of the left carb and dumped fuel all down the left side of my engine. So, I parked it, then went to the Emory area and helped Michael and his brother Reuben nab a Squareback. Got back to Michael's, and J.B. Welded the fitting back into the carb- tugged on the right fuel line, and it popped right out of the right carb, so I J.B.'ed it back in also. Ran a safety wire from the carb to the fuel line clamp on each carb. Made a mental note- purchase a fire extinguisher to keep in the car!

Friday I helped one of my brothers buy a '73 Ghia and get it home.
Then Saturday I helped another brother buy a '71 squareback.

Installed the alternator I won at the poker run, because my 66 beetle "scooter" alternator died on the way to the poker run. Drove the wife's 08 beetle in the poker run.

Began putting the 2.5" drop spindles on. I say "began" because the tie rod gave me some problems. I didn't have the ball joint tool, but I don't believe it would've helped anyhow. It was stubborn, but finally got it replaced. One side down, one to go
