Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Didnt really do anything to my bus today but ordered a full interior from Lindy. He saved me over $300. Big thanks to Kale for the heads up.

Attorney Isaiah Loophole wrote:Went to a local junk yard and got most of what I needed for my bus including windows for my pop out frames, pop out latches, door handles inners and outers, matching key and ignition, 3 jail bars, cargo door mechs, hinge cover for the snow cone bus, and a set of 64-67 spindles.....also picked up a steering wheel for Josh
I got to visit this bus recently too! Had them flip it up on its side with the forklift so I could get the rear shift rod. Even with it up on its side, I could not get the coupler undone to so I had to make some alignment marks and cut it. I'll use the marks I made and weld it back together once I get it cleaned up.

Drove it to work...

Cold morning, looking forward to a nice afternoon drive home.
Cabin is sealed pretty good so no wind, just no heat...

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I have a pic of that bus with the turn signals missing!
Been busting my tail to get some parts painted, hence why I missed the Coup and will not make Reynolds and all the other shows up until it is done!
For the heck of it finished what was in my gun on the nose. Going to like seeing this thing in this color one day.

I got my engine in, even with working 10 hour days, and ready for cruze the coop. Installed my 66 plate as well, I started designing a trailer hitch.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Got the snow cone bus running and driving, insured and tagged! Been working on the basics the last four days. I replaced the calipers, wheel cylinders, pads, shoes, master cylinder, rubber lines, cv axles, headlights, carburetor gaskets, lots of small stuff and got the cosmics on there. Started putting some miles on it today and not having time to pull the tank and get it cleaned put me on the side of the road. Gas tank is plugging up the fuel line. So I rigged a gas can as a fuel tank to get it back home. Going to drain the tank again in the morning and put a new screen in that I didnt have when I drained it the first time. Gonna try and drive it to Reynolds.....going to keep the gas cans in the bus just in case.

Hmmmm...I see a steering box and a pair of visors.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Visors were toast, I thought about getting them for myself. They looked like they would clean up on the outside, but the foam padding inside had hardened and would crumble if you tried to move the visor.
Did have the steering box, speedo, and fuel gauge, which all looked to be in decent shape. Also had both dome lights. I think both front doors had useable window frames, but I didn't inspect them super close.

Installed the heater cable I scrounged from the junk yard Saturday and then a little more blocking and sanding on the nose.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Installed pop-outs I scored at Cruise the Coop for $25. Swapped out mech distributor for vacuum advanced and replaced carb air breather for one I picked up at Cruise the Coop as well.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I put some miles on the VW's this weekend. Had to haul more than 1 person so the bug became family mobile. Drove the bus around and had it break down due to a bad set of bosch points.
And I did this this weekend.
And I did this this weekend.

While searching through my parts stored in the barn, I found the tin piece that covers the crank pulley. I don't think it does anything for cooling, but it's there for whatever it's purpose is.

Where is that! I see a big debt in my future. Depending on how much room the back yard, front yard, relatives' and friends' yards, and storage buildings have.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Got my antracite raders in and mounted, realized the studs are too long so they'll need shortened. adjusted the clutch while the rears were off. I got the stock width beam removed to make room for the 4.5 inch narrowed beam.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Sorry guys, I didn't find this place so I'm really not at liberty to say. Don't worry though, there really arent that many vws or "scores". They are nowhere near as cheap on prices as pull a part, actually pretty high on some things I asked about. I just really needed a specific part they happened to have.
