Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Belt broke last week so it's been sitting on the road in front of the house. Pulled it into the driveway last night, tonight I will pull out the distributor for a new o-ring, pull the fuel pump for new gaskets, pull the oil pressure sending unit and put some Teflon tape on it, and pull the crank pully to replace it (will put on a new belt while I'm at it). Hopefully one of these things will help the oil spray.
Steering Box
I added some 90W Gear oil to the Steering Box last evening. I am pretty sure it was close to dry, it took about 10 Teaspoons.....I used a medium size medicine dropper to fill it up. Then cleaned the 38 years worth of Road Grime off of it.
After that the Family & I took a ride around the neighborhood. (stayed off the main roads so my 2 yr old can run around the bus and look out all the windows like she loves to do)
I was amazed at how much easier my bus turned. It was a small task but it felt good. I used to have to man-handle it to get it turned around in the cul-de-sac. Now I am ready to Parallel Park that Beast !!

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
My wife and I went to Bahamma Breeze in Kenessaw tonight for my birthday. Below is a picture of the car out in front.
I noticed some front-end slop on Monday as I was driving home from work. I looked at the car and found the link pins a little loose so I tightned them up. It appeared to do the trick. I also repacked the fron wheel bearings with grease while I was there. Also - I gave some attention to leaks from the air system. I fixed one major leak and located another smaller leak that I will need to buy couplers for. And then off to dinner with my wife.

Put a short block together this afternoon. Also started on my VW Dude.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Nope. Bobby Buggys had one sitting inside so I took a picture. I had this extra crap laying around so I figured I would build me one. Didn't take long to do that.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Drove to the Marietta Night Cruise there were loads of different classics there, even a vw single cab beautifully restored, also about 5 other beetles including mine, everyone loved the suicide doors, and there were plenty of stories of back when they owned a vdub, none of them were bad

finally put the new belt on and put a new o-ring on the dizzy. Will have to see if that helps with the oil spray.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Wife told me I had no brake lights. No power to socket. Found a broken prong on one of the brake light switches. I have to park it till I can get 2 new ones. Hope this will fix the problem.

You need to take it to the chrome dude and have him chrome the whole thing! I'll contribute a couple bucks just to see it done! New Airhead mascot.
You could ride with em in the passenger seat and get in the HOV lane.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
That VW Dude looks great. I had a few hours to work on my car today. I put some insulation in the rear, installed the rear carpet, rear seat, and got the door and rear panels snapped in place. Saturday I hope to get the front half of the carpet installed and get the front seats and seatbelts in. Then I will get back to the windshield install.

Replaced the brake light switch and still no lights. Replaced some fuses and unpluged and pluged the wires on the fuse panel Check grounds and wala.... I have lights again.
I also replace a window crank and greased a few things up.
I love the head lights I bought from Kustom 1 Warehouse. Flat euro H4 55/100 w lights $12.00 ea
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
By the way dont go to your local Auto Zone and buy a brake light switch. They want $25.00 each for the 3 prong switch. Went to Foreign Auto Parts of Marietta and bought two of them for $8.00 each.
What a savings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
