Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
I spent about an hour making a heat shield to cover the headers on the waterbug driver's side. This will keep the heat from rising straight up to the throttle-body, just above the headers, as well the intake manifold. A buddy gave me some polished diamond plate to make it out of. Thanks Tim. I moved the air intake and cone filter so that it picks up down low on the passenger side away from the heat that gathers up top under the engine cover when sitting in traffic.
I also pulled the radiator plenum cover in the back seat area and acid etch primed it and shot it flat black because it was too shiny and interfering with rear view mirror vision, I had made the cover out of dull finish anodized aluminum anticipating reflection problems but it wasn't dull enough. I also shot the foil insulation just below the back glass as it was too bright too.

Now I can buy a floor for the bus
Congrats! Maybe drive it to Bug Jam???
Installed door panels in Oh Bugga, looks good. Thanks Bryce and Eric, Eric I owe you $10!
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Did some more work on my engine tins. Modified a 1200 single port cylinder tin and it worked pretty good. The fan shroud fits on it nicely, just have to modify the other side and paint them and I'll be back to putting this thing together.
Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Drove the buggy to work. Lost some gas pedal travel and had to readjust the cable when I got there as it sliped out of the barrel slightly. Now I can go fast again.

Re: What did you do to your volkswagen today?
Pulled the 66 in the garage to tighten up everything from the front beam install and put in the cotter pins. Bought 2 new brake lines in Marietta on the way home only to find one line has the wrong flares. Grrr. The car could have been back on the road tonight but looks like it will take one more day.

Yeah, I saw that for sale. It was a good deal.
It is in my driveway now! I couldn't pass it up and only 20 minutes from the house to boot! It is fairly solid. Needs a couple of patches here and there but nothing like my 66. The motor spins freely and still has the bus muffler. I will get more pics of it tomorrow or Friday after a bath and some general cleaning.
Anyone got a split beam from spindle to spindle laying around?.....
