Carb is BONE dry
Trying to figure out why my Carb is not getting fuel. The pump was working til I took it off to see if it fit my other beetle. I have spark because it fired and ran til it ran out of gas in the bowel. The fuel pump is the one that fits the generator, not the alternator. Also the Carb is a Solex 31/30

Re: Carb is BONE dry
Are you positive you connected the hoses back to the correct ports when you reinstalled the pump? They may be hooked up backwards.

Still not pumping gas in the carb. Talked to Bryce about pouring gas down the throat and seeing if it will fire and re prime the pump.

Poured gas down the throat and now the fuel pump is primed and working. I have spark at the points and still won't fire.

Re: Carb is BONE dry
I had the same prob after I put a new one in mine. I forget how I fixed it. I will think hard and try to get back to ya. Can you post a pic of the carb to see if its hooked up right? So all you did was remove the pump and put if back on right? Did you leave the pole that slips in the case in?

Re: Carb is BONE dry
Taylor fixed it. Lines to fuel pump were backwards.

This is usually a common problem that pops up on The Samba sometimes. I know I should've posted this image earlier:x , but here's a diagram that shows the flow directions of common fuel pumps.
This way, if someone comes upon this thread at a later time, it could help them resolve their problem.

The fuel pump on the bug doesn't look anything like these. Thanks for the pic though!
