carb question Empty carb question

Post by callahan Sun Apr 24, 2011 7:56 pm

ok started cleaning up this carb to put on the fatty and was looking at these vacuum port things on the back of the carb (back of car)
my question is do these ports need to be plugged? i tried peering into them with a light and only the bottom one looks like it needs to be plugged but if my memory is correct both of these need to be plugged
yes or no?

If your running a 009 you do not need either of them.
A SVDA uses the upper one, I believe.
The lower one would be used with a DVDA (retard side...)
If I have them backwards some one will correct me...

That's a 34pict3 right? If so, the vacuum port for the SVDA is on the drivers side (behind the throttle arm). I've never seen those ports you have circled being used on any of the 34pict3 carbs I have ran. I've also never seen them drilled open to where they need to be plugged. You sure that bottom one is actually open?

yeah its 34pict3 and it doesn't look drilled open or anything i just wasn't sure and the carb is in good shape so i doubt its been messed with,
i just know i've seen carbs with ports like the one for the SVDA with caps over them and just wasn't sure

Usually there would be another outlet with a cap on it to the left of your upper circle, but it looks like that port was removed and plugged at some point already.
