Empi 34 epc dual carb kit
I just ordered this kit for my 1835 in my '73 beetle. I have been doing some research and it seems like these tend to be jetted small even for 1600's. Anyone have any suggestions on what size I should start with? Also I would like to be able to get the jets in the area if anyone knows a supplier. I don't know a whole lot about the engine and don't trust the PO's info. I don't think it has very high compression but it does have more power than a stock 1600 even with it running crappy on a weber single 40. It also has a merged header with a quiet single muffler.

4.1 x your venturies on main 200, and 60 is where you want to start. So if you have 28vents then you say 4.1 x 28 and that's your main jet size also gary at bugeyed.net keeps some in stock

I had a set on the square. They needed the idles bigger and the mains smaller. Never could get the jets for 'em without buying the whole kit. Will never buy another set again. I'll go with Webbers next time. After all the time and hassle of trying to get the things to run right, the extra hundred bucks for the webbers would've been EASILY worth it.

Re: Empi 34 epc dual carb kit
Again, thank you. I have been reading some very mixed reviews on Empi carbs but most of them are old. I have also read than duals correct a flaw created by running a single two barrel. I guess it has something to do with the firing order and the way the air flows in the intake. At this point I am just had enough of having to re-adjust this webber 40 every three days. I'll sell it cheap to anyone who wants once I get the 34's running.

If you have not bought them yet go with 40's5 you will like them better
Re: Empi 34 epc dual carb kit
I have it already ordered. I drive the car daily and am looking for a little better mileage without giving up too much power so I figuered 40's will wait until the car becomes more of a toy.
