1970 Bay Window "Leon"
Found this bus on the samba and craigslist. It was less than 20 minutes from the house so I figured I would check it out. After looking it over, me and p.o. (Brad) struck a deal and the bus was delivered the next day. Well after a quick scrub the respray color is coming back. It was originally green with a white top.
Only progress so far has been putting roller tire on, washing the outside and vacuuming the inside. Next is going to be a complete scrubbing of the interior. Then I am going to pull the engine, clean it up and check it out to see if it is usable.

you are so lucky, you keep finding these great deals. You should become a VW treasure hunter. That bay is 10 times in better shape than mine, and I bet you probably paid less than me

Re: 1970 Bay Window "Leon"
GOT THE ENGINE AND TRANS OUT TODAY...LITTLE MORE WORK THAN A VW!!! I WILL DO A GENERAL TUNE UP AND MOST LIKELY HAVE TO REBUILD THE CARBS...BUT OTHER THAN THAT THE ENGINE IS IN GREAT SHAPE. I WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE THE ADAPTERS FOR THE AXLES AND MAKE SOME MOUNTS,NOTHING TOO BAD. I CANT WAIT TO GET THIS THING IN THE BUS. I WILL POST PICS AS SOON AS I CAN GET SOME.

Re: 1970 Bay Window "Leon"
Well I got this bus back. It was returned to a upright engine before I got it and it is running good. With a little more wiring work it will be a driver. I installed a pretty nice set of bumpers since I got it back. Today I installed well rigged another decklid on as the hinge carrier is rusted out.
After a washing I busted out the buffer and hit the passenger side.
I am waiting on my four inch beam to be ready and this bad boy will be slammed! I am going with a split beam and I am flipping my own spindles. Already have some Bugglife 4.5" drop plates for the back. You know it will be getting some wheels at some point.....

Well seeing as how I already have 4.5" drop plates for the rear I wouldn't call it a girly drop.....I just dont want to tub it
Re: 1970 Bay Window "Leon"
Bryce, you got that Bay dropped yet or are you still needing a beam?
"Say it's naut true!"
What is the set up in this pic? drop spindles only? How much drop, rear lowered yet?
There is some Velvet Green paint under that red respray screaming to let out!

Re: 1970 Bay Window "Leon"
the set up right now is stock rear with a stock front end and what is equivalent to a cut and turn on the front....basically the centers have been drilled out then rotated and welded back
