There are a couple tabs that fold over on the end of the of the regulator. Sometimes they will get punched open by cranking the window and the threads will pop out of the end. All you have to do is get the crank to catch and start turning again. Then fold the tabs back to keep it from popping out again. Happened on my old '68 and I bought an aftermarket regulator. Once I took the OG unit out, I figued out how to fix it and ended up putting it back in the car cuz the new unit sucked.
Ok I will check and see if that is the case with mine then.

Got the new tires on the 66 finally after a bit of trouble getting the beads to seat. She also got a much needed wash!

Yeah, I have an extra drivers side regulator myself!
Maybe I will be able to fix it like Glen said. Its too dark to mess with it tonite, will hafta check into it tommorrow!

Finaly started flushing the fuel system in my 63 beetle. After getting a tank of bad gas last season. There is nothing like the smell of lacquer in the morning.
