Cherokee Camping Trip 2015!!! July 24-26, 2015 @ Indian Creek Campground

I know it's early, but the earlier it gets planned, the more likely everyone can work it in to their schedules.

I'd like to do this the weekend of July 31 through August 2 dates not available this year.  I want to bump it up a week, because school starts back in many places that following week and I know that kept at least a few people from making it last year.  

Looks like July 24-26 is when it will have to be!

I checked Indian Creek's calendar and it was clear this weekend as well (no trout tournament).  Also, they have that hotdog/smores cookout planned for August 1, so we can have a meal for a night already planned!

VW Meltdown in Montgomery is the weekend before, so for now, I don't know of any shows that this date would interfere with.

Well dang!  Just called, and that weekend only has 2 water sites left and not many others.

However, the weekend of Friday July 24 through Sunday July 26 had a ton more sites.  I think she said only 2 on the creek were taken.  So it looks like that will have to be the weekend we choose.  I hope this works for everyone.  If you are interested, I really suggest booking a site early.  I think the cancellation fee is only $10 if you can't make it and cancel a few weeks out.

Unfortunately, this will be the weekend of the meltdown. Not sure how many of us usually go to that.

I booked site 12 so I'm all in. Going to be there rain or shine.

I won't make it this year. You guys have fun! I have been the last four years and I hate we will miss it but a new dubber is due in early July!

Well there are usually sites still available closer to the actual date that you can probably get if you make it. Just probably won't be creek side.

Anyone planning to camp at this event interested in a cruise on the Blue Ridge Parkway before you set up on Friday?

I had taken my family on a BRP cruise around Memorial Day and posted it on Samba. It kind of turned into an idea for a cruise for VWs.

The High Country Bus Festival is in Crumpler, NC July 19-26th with most folks getting there the same weekend as the Indian Creek weekend, 24-26th.

I thought it would be a good idea to plan a cruise somehow around these 2 events since they would be drawing people already to the BRP area. Plus, as noted in this thread, many folks will be starting school the next week or so after.

A lot of folks prefer to stay put once their camp is set up. That's why I'm asking here is anyone would want to cruise with us before?

Let me know if you get it planned. Kelly and I have planned on doing some hiking one of the days we are up there, so not totally sure what our Friday plans are yet. We will already be up there Thursday, so our camp will already be set up. But I'd prefer it that way so that I'm carrying less weight while going up the hills, haha.
