What kind of car do you guys want to build?
Anyone up for a club project car?
Working on an opportunity with a fellow club member to acquire a beetle for the club to fix and then sell it to make some money for the club. Maybe get everyone airhead shirts and stickers made, put some money with the Y U Bugg'N fund and who knows what else? Or we could just keep it for shows and parades to show off our club.
So is anyone interested?
One work day a month? Where would be a good central location for the car to stay at? I mean I could store it here but would you guys be up to coming here to work on it?

Re: Anyone up for a club project car?
I'm up for it! Do you know what shape the car in question is in? I definitely don't have anywhere to store it over here, so I'd be fine with driving to Griffin.

Re: Anyone up for a club project car?
i'm definately in. i vote for v-rod cause it will be alot cheaper then a stock resto IHMO .
Also i'm almost finished building my sand blasting booth, so any rusty parts that we'd normally think to replace, i can blast em here. unless bryce has one at his house, in that case, nevermind, lol.

I think so too.vwtattooed wrote:you know i'm in...let's do a volksrod, would be great for local parades and cruise ins to draw attention to the club.
yeah that was my thought to and since most people want to do stock or resto custom with their personal cars this would give everyone a chance to do something completely differentBugman114 wrote: i vote for v-rod cause it will be alot cheaper then a stock resto IHMO
Re: Anyone up for a club project car?
I didn't vote for V-rod, but that doesn't mean I'm not up for one. As long as it's a VW project, I'll be happy!

Re: Anyone up for a club project car?
One thing I'd like to do is have an old tank with the filler sticking through the hood. Also movethe lights to above the wheels but attached to the body. One other thing, do away with the stock seats and use some Aerostar or low back seat sitting on the pan, that way you gain back head room with the chop top! Looking into the car going down the road all the person passing you will see is your head!!
Lovin the pipes out the back!! :Rockit:

Re: Anyone up for a club project car?
No suicide doors..... They are just too much of a pain.
As far as the seat goes I would like to do a low back bench seat like an old school rod. I think that would be totally different, but whatever we agree on is fine.

Relocation of e-brake
For the exhaust I like the look of them coming out in front of the rear wheels.
Flip the j tubes to the other side of the motor and build the rest
I have also got an idea for the wheels but I will have to find a pic.

Re: Anyone up for a club project car?
I'm liken the bench seat that is cool and that e-brake, how about one from a bus? You will have to expound on the pipes. Would like to see some. I don not like suicide doors thats exactly what they are! Ask EngineerTen!
Re: Anyone up for a club project car?
chopping a beetle top is a pain! been there done that, scrapped the car!!!open up the whole roof from the front windshield brace aaallll the way back to bottom of back window! cool e-brake relocation...seat coverage won"t be any problem!

Re: Anyone up for a club project car?
They come in different sizes but these are a little less desirable to me as they are 14X6's with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern. Not a common adapter size.....

An option...
Not sure if this started its life off as a vert or not. Looks cool though.

Re: Anyone up for a club project car?
This is the car that will most likely be used. A '65 that has had Gender altering surgery. And it will have it again, to a V-Rod.
