New to Club
Hello,
Would like to introduce myself. My name is Allan Becton. I met Don and Eric at the September Car show in Cartersville. I have messed with VW's my entire driving life time, or 36 years. My first car was a one owner 1967 VW beetle. Since then to many to number!
I am in the process now of rebuilding my 72 SB engine to a warmed over 1641. I have it completed now, just been sick this last weekend so I couldn't install it.
Look forward to meeting everyone!

Re: New to Club
Thanks guys for the welcome! Don, I replied to your PM.
I hope; here are some pictures of the SB
I have rebuilt my motor for the SB.
Got it installed and fired it up; it ran good.....for about 45 seconds, then a hard stop Try to turn the motor over with the starter and then a wrench on the generator, no go. So, after waiting a couple of days (to cool down and quit throwing objects) my buddy John and I took the motor back out and tore it down this past Saturday night. Here's what we found.
I know it's hard to see but if you look at the No.2 bearing saddle and see how nice the bearing pin is in place and then look at the No.1 saddle and look how elongated that pin hole is, you see the problem. Now for the bearing and the crank journal.
So, I have another case that Steve Sands is installing case savers in and he will try to polish out the journal on the crank. Hopefully, this engine will be back together before next weekend!

Guys,
Sorry about the picture posting. I have read the FAQ and have followed the instructions about posting a picture. I've noticed how some of you can insert the pic in your post. Can some one please enlighten me on this proceedure?

Re: New to Club
Looks like you have the right method of posting pics but flicker seems to work a little different as you really need the direct link to the picture.

but I still cant get the [img] to work on it

Allan
The brg was not seated in before you torqued the case. One of the hardest brgs to seat correctly.
Next one put brg in case before the install and once seated mark the side with a line so when you are lowering the crank down you can see when the brg is correctly seated.
Call me!
