Hey guys and gals, does anyone know where to get replacement gaskets and intake manifold runner boots for the Weber single carb conversion for T2 Bay bus(`78) with pancake engine?
basically this set-up here. http://www.busdepot.com/j11144
I really just need the 4 black intake boots where the runner tubes join the plenum but figured I would replace all gaskets while torn apart.
Thanks!

Those should be the same as 1600 dp intake boots. If you are having trouble with vacuum leaks, the flanges at the head are notorious for leaking/not being machined flat or just plain being twisted up from over torquing. Just my .02  Very Happy

thanks chicken, after rebuilding carb still wasn't able to totally dial in air/fuel mix. Hit the manifold boots with carb cleaner and definitely made the idle bounce around. I found some of the Empi 9960 spilt boots...you think they are worth a crap?
I appreciate your 2 pennies

Split boots suck use og rubber or silicone boots and don't over tighten.boot clamps. If you use rubber one don't get cleaning agents on them or they break down quicker. . Also make sure carb is supported correctly.

If you are using the hose clamps that came with the intake or even some of the replacement boots you really should change those for some quality clamps. They seem like they shouldn't matter but make all the difference in the world, the clamps provided will not seal the boots good enough 9 times out of 10. You can get all crazy picking out high end clamps but I just use a good worm style radiator hose clamp and don't over tighten as Type4 mentioned or it will cut the boot like butter. I'm guessing this is on a power brake vehicle, if so you may try putting a vacuum cap on the nipple for the brake booster until you get the basic tune. The distance from the carb to the booster is great and that provides a lot of opportunity for leaks. I have had false leak readings from intake boots due to a leaking rubber connection at the booster hose that sucked in carb spray deflected off the boots.

Thanks for all the info guys, The boots that are on here are definitely shot. splits and cracks all over. Called vintage vw today but no answer. They are probably the closest shop to me. I guess I'll try to find them online. Found a few boots for other vehicle applications but I'm guessing they are the same. Kinda strange I can't find a complete gasket/boot kit for the weber single carb conversion. btw its on a '78 westy.

Typically the only way to get type 4 intake gaskets is in the complete engine gasket kit so those will be hard to find by themselves.

Base gasket about half way down the page.

Runner to head, sold each.

You can just get a roll of gasket material and make them with a small ball peen hammer..

I use Aviation sealant on the bottom of the carb with the gasket. It works well for me. I put that $h!t on everything!
But don't let your friends borrow it....they won't return it. Sad
