CV Joint Boot Replacement Empty CV Joint Boot Replacement

The CVs on my Bus are working good no noises but the boots are shot. I have new boot kits from WW. It came with a small back of grease. Doesn't look to me to be enough for the CV joint but I could be wrong.

I have limited experience with CVs.....
~What is the best method to clean all the old grease out of the CV?
~A method to applying the new grease?
~If I need more grease what type to use?

Any other tips/secrets would be nice.

Go to NAPA and get a set already booted up. Think It's about 150 exchange. Much less messy and saves enough time to justify the cost IMO. Tried the boot swap on the dune buggy years ago. Still have a bearing that ened up rolling under my compressor during my repeated attempts before giving up.

Well took one axle ass'y apart and the CVs are toast, TOAST. Shaft is ok. I'm already into the boots for a good bit. Time to make an order.

Also found some nice vids on YouTube that showed me how to get them apart.

I helped Michael redo his, it takes at least 3 hands to reinsert the little balls while flexing the joint and the little cage. Once the boot cracks, dirt gets inside and clings to the grease- Michael was lucky that his weren't real badly pitted- he was able to just replace the torn boots, and repack the joint after a good cleaning
