Putting the case back together
Hopefully I will be putting my case and engine back together in the next few weeks.
I've did the top end on my 1200 last year, rings and heads, etc.. but never split the case. This will be my first venture into the case and putting it all back together. Just wanted to get a heads up on the gotchas and what is the best thing to use to seal the case, I know most VW engins drip oil but I'd really like to get a clean driveway after this one.

Re: Putting the case back together
I use either "Super 300" or "Aviation Gasket sealer" tough stuff and use it on everything where I want to make sure there is a seal. Carefull with it on getting it on you, real bear to remove!! Spilled a can while sealing push rod tubes and got it in my hair, still think I have some in there!
Re: Putting the case back together
i hear gasginach (i don't know how to spell that, lol) works pretty good, and is easy to remove when you take the case back apart (suposed to peel off). I've used it, but have never had to take anything apart i have used it for, so i'm not sure how easy it is to remove. It doesn't leak at all tho.
