Long overdue - 69 Westy

I feel bad for just now doing this introduction, having already been on the general chat and received help and stuff.
But, for the good of the order, here goes:
My 69 Westy is my 3rd aircooled VW, the first 2 being Beetles. I found this one in NW Arkansas about a year and a half ago. During that time, in addition to some cool camping trips I have rebuilt/refreshed everything mechanically. Except the engine which was rebuilt just prior to my purchase. So everything's good to go for the moment.
I drive it to work about 2-3 times per week. I like to do my own maintenance. We go long distances in it: Blue Ridge Parkway and recently to No Dough in Daytona.
I prefer GA Dubs over Samba, but check both regularly. My 2 kids are hooked on old VWs. My lovely wife, tolerates the obsession. My 9 yr old son can change the oil by himself. I have the Bentley AND the Muir books and enjoy them both. I despise Internet forum social retards.
I have met the ATL Wagens and the Athens group and had a great time with both. What nice folks. I look forward to meeting other GA Dubbers as little league and ballet schedules allow.

Nice!!! You'll find GAdubs a much friendlier place than thesamba. I think it's because you're more likely to meet the people here and it's harder to be a tool as a result. Welcome to the forums. I look forward to seeing you around.

Agreed. Plus, I think Georgians are just nicer but, I may be a little biased.
