New user/Life long VW fanatic
Hi all,
I learned to drive on a '73 beetle at 11 years old (23 years ago). My first car was a Rabbit. My 3rd car was a '73 and I've just purchased a project beetle that I'm bringing back to life. It's also a '73...that's what the bill of sale says, anyways. I looked it up online because I couldn't find any info on the VIN online. Seems as though the chasis is a '75, but the engine is a '73. The previous owner chopped the top, so I'm making somewhat of a rat rod out of it. I have a lot of ideas/plans for the car and can't wait to share pics! Just got it running this past weekend, but still a little left to do on the engine. It had an electric fuel pump in it. I took that out and replaced with the manual pump. Also replaced fuel lines, fuel filter, plugs, fresh oil, etc. About to pull the engine for a new clutch (obviously more than expected as far as what I thought it needed). After that, the body work begins. It'll be a permanent convertible for a while. I'll have to fabricate something for a top...but it'll eventually get done. I live about an hour North of ATL in Rome, GA. If any of you live near by, or just pass through, look me up! When I had my '73 back in the day, we had a club here in Rome. I'd be interested in getting one together again if there were enough of us near by.

Thanks! Nice ride...and yeah, I just found one that was a member of the previous club we had. I think he last posted in 2011, lol

Actually, I just noticed your thread in the '70s cars forum. Great looking project. You've done some good work so far.

Awesome bus, Jerry. I had searched for one but never could find one in my price range. I'll own one one day, though
