New guy With First Aircooled

Hey everyone, my name is Ray. Just picked up my first beetle afew days ago. Been wanting to get one for a while and am looking forward to learning about aircooled and enjoying this car and meeting some cool people. The car is a 68 with the 1300. Needs plenty ofwork but i drove it back from tennessee and have been driving it everywhere so drivetrain seems solid.
Just figured id intoduce myself and look forward to meeting yall.

Again thanks for the welcomes everyone. Sorry for still not getting pics up, work has been taking most of my time. Now have my first problem as of this morning on the way to work, turned off my wipers when I got off the hwy, then rain picked back up went to turn them on and they won't. So I now have no wipers. Fuse is good that's as far as I got to check with having to be at work.

Sometimes the fuses can LOOK perfect and still be broken.

Well the radio is off that same fuse and its working fine.

Hmm, Might want to check and see if the switch is getting power to it.

Well went out on a smoke break, turn the key to charge my phone. Saw the wipers twitch, turn the switch and all the sudden they work.....so any ideas on it now?

Switch has a sweet spot or possibly just got wet. Careful turning th ignition on without running the engine. It could fry your points or, if you an have electronic ignition it WILL get fried for sure.

Was just about to say that too...When I got my first one I fried points like crazy running the radio without the car cranked. Could be bad contact points on the relay too, but most likely it's just finding the sweet spot. Wire brush to clean the connectors maybe?
