Since bringing her home she has stopped running... currently trying to troubleshoot some fuel issues and hoping to be on the road in a couple weeks........

Sweet car. Post more pics whenever you get things worked out.
And do post questions if you run into problems. These guys are a great help.

When I get slowed down a bit, I can get over and check it out. Maybe we can figure out what it's doing and get it straightened out.

Re: 1968 First aircooled
Thanks guys... I ordered a rebuilt carb and just went to Herrells and picked up some new fuel line and a couple new filters.... going to drain tank...give it a good rinse(it's very clean inside with a small amount of sediment) blow back the new lines.. the lines were replaced throughout metal and braided cloth lines... install new filter and put on another carb and see if that solves the problem.... it starts right up but eventual acts like it's outta gas... I pulled the top off the carb and it appears the fuel bowl did not have very much gas... so either a blockage.. bad fuel pump or carb is screwy... going to eliminate all these and then I'll look for help if that doesnt do it...

One of the things I have heard of with these cars is vapor lock. Make sure the fuel lines aren't close to a heat source such as the exhaust.

Re: 1968 First aircooled
I got it!..... Drained Tank..... Rinsed Tank.... All Lines with Compressed Air... Installed new filter near Transmission.... Fueled Back up....left line off carb.... Ran test to check if fuel pump was working.... Nope.... no fuel... pulled the new fuel pump.... Hmmmm rod wad upside down.. pointed end pointing up.... Hmmm.... took pump & rod to Herrells.... They comfirmed the point supposed to be down and..... the rod was a little over a 1/4" to short.... Said the wrong end could have damaged the pump cam... if i'm lucky... throw right size rod in and all good.... put the right length rod in.... Vroom... fired right up.... it still wont idle very good even after being warmed up and it has a slight miss when higher rpms before gear change... so just maybe some fine tuning and she will be purring like a kitten!... Learned a lot today ;0)
