My latest score! 58 Euro Trash Rag
Well I finally talked the guy I bought my single cab from into turning loose of the rag top. Here are some crappy pics. I hope to get it running and then probably put it on the market to fund the single cab. I will post better pics when I get it off the trailer.

It's a real Euro Bug with KPH speedometer, semaphores, from Munich- way cool, especially with the ragtop

Re: My latest score! 58 Euro Trash Rag
I am looking at this thing this morning and have found out a few more facts. It is a VERY early 58 built in the first week of production in August of 1957. The motor number also is from that period, so I assume this motor is original to the car. It was L245 light bronze with green/grey interior. it is a model #111 which means its a standard model. I found some tools with the tool roll and noticed it also had the Cog style gas cap. The body number stamped on the front apron is an earlier number than the samba is listing. This body must have been stamped WAY WAY early.

That's cool, my Oval was produced in July '57, they're not very far apart

Better than I thought. The pans need the rear half only. Thats about the worst. I thing a good wire brushing with some por15 will handle the rest.drewBAKER wrote:how's the rust on it?

Bobby Baker and I were just looking at it a few minutes ago and noticed the rear engine tin had a cool hinged plate that folds up for a manual crank. We also found the original parcel tray behind the rear seat. This thing keeps getting cooler!

Does it have a hole in the apron for a crank start lever?

No, they must have been using up what they had left over from the oval's. It does not have the hand crank style nut on the crank either.Grifspop wrote:hly3rd wrote:Bobby Baker and I were just looking at it a few minutes ago and noticed the rear engine tin had a cool hinged plate that folds up for a manual crank. Re: My latest score! 58 Euro Trash Rag
Well I couldn't stand it any longer. I spent part of the day cleaning out the car and then was curious to see if it ran. I hooked up a battery, poured a little gas in the carb and fired it up instantly. The carb may need cleaning because you have to keep pumping it to keep it running. It sounds great. I have never had one crank so easy in my life. I plan on getting it to purr like a kitten, then trailer it to CYW and unload it. I would LOVE to keep it, but Uncle Sam says no.
Re: My latest score! 58 Euro Trash Rag
Cool, i'll have to find you and take a look at it at CYW.
