Re: Project Bobber!
Ok, since everyone is pissy, I'll put in my .02. If this is a bobber thread, where are the bobbers? The term" bobber "is so misused. Just because your bike has a sporty tank painted flat black with red wheels and whitewalls, you DO NOT have a bobber. Bobbers are post WWII Harleys that have the original parts stripped off of them to make them lighter. Nothing you ADD to a bike will make it a bobber. The bikes I have seen in this thread are either cafe racer style, or choppers. Yes, choppers DO NOT have to have long front ends. Choppers are any bike with an altered frame, stance,or sheet metal upgrade. I will find a few pics of each style and post. Whew, I feel better. P.S. Early cars do rule!
Re: Project Bobber!
I'm gonna make one of those kick ass trikes, where it's the rear half of a beetle (with partial roof) and the front is a bike. I'm gonna make it out of a bobber and a super beetle. Then I'm gonna be Drew Baker's personal chauffeur and take him everywhere in it.

Re: Project Bobber!
Nobody is pissy we just have different opinions, just like what a bobber is, I referred to a bobber as any bike that had pieces removed (or bobbed) to perform better during a race. Lots of old and new timers raced the bike they rode in on.
Not sure what to call the flat black sporty with wide white walls and red wheels?

drewBAKER wrote:so you sold that bike to build a super? why would anyone fix a super? if your gonna fix something make it an early car.
Because my first car was a Super (20+ yrs ago) that my father bought for $100 and hauled home in pieces. My family never had a lot of money, so it was a big deal for him to buy me a car for my 16th birthday, especially an air-cooled VW. Since money was tight, we invested lots of time instead.
My father is in rather poor health now, so my VW hobby is less about fitting in with the vintage snobs like you and more about recapturing a bit of my youth and maintaining some memories of my old man. If that offends you somehow, I don't really give a rat's ass.
