Advice for a Rookie
I'm planning on putting the motor back in my Westy this week. This is the first time I've put a motor back into a bus. Any advice? Any little tricks that might make it easier for me? Anything else I should do as long as I have the motor out?
Don't be afraid that your advice might sound too basic. I won't be offended. And if it stops this rookie from making an expensive mistake I'd be very thankful.

Generally they go in as easy as they came out. Remember to look for lines, hoses and wires in the back so that they don't get cut by the tins.

my advice is god luck lol they arnt that bad but can be aggravating i had to jack it up with the flywheel end higher to get in the bellhousing first then raise the fan end
Re: Advice for a Rookie
try to keep the bus level- hard to line up everything if its jacked up unevenly

I've got everything taped out of the way so hopefully it won't interfere. I'm going to install the heater boxes and exhaust after the motor is in just to give me a little more room to mess around.71_georgia_beetle wrote:Generally they go in as easy as they came out. The bus is level but the ground under it isn't. I've got 3 2x6's under the right side so it'll sit level.zabo wrote:try to keep the bus level- hard to line up everything if its jacked up unevenly
I'll have two friends over to help out so it shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks for the advice. I saw what you meant about it being hard to align everything. I'llpark it on more level ground next time I pull the motor, but all in all it wasn't too bad.
