Advice for a Rookie Empty Advice for a Rookie

Post by peregrine67 Tue Jun 08, 2010 1:46 pm

I'm planning on putting the motor back in my Westy this week. This is the first time I've put a motor back into a bus. Any advice? Any little tricks that might make it easier for me? Anything else I should do as long as I have the motor out?
Don't be afraid that your advice might sound too basic. I won't be offended. And if it stops this rookie from making an expensive mistake I'd be very thankful.

Generally they go in as easy as they came out. Remember to look for lines, hoses and wires in the back so that they don't get cut by the tins.

I've got everything taped out of the way so hopefully it won't interfere. I'm going to install the heater boxes and exhaust after the motor is in just to give me a little more room to mess around.

The bus is level but the ground under it isn't. I've got 3 2x6's under the right side so it'll sit level.
I'll have two friends over to help out so it shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks for the advice. I saw what you meant about it being hard to align everything. I'llpark it on more level ground next time I pull the motor, but all in all it wasn't too bad.
