Re: Large Vw show in atlanta
I"m a 'Paudinian' too (there seem to be quite a few of us in this thread.) I say- lets put on our big girl panties, and enjoy our friends, rides, and some of what ATL has to offer.
Safety in Numbers!
Steve Martin suggested if you're worried about being robbed- just act crazy. They won't rob you cuz their afraid they'll have to keep explaining it to you! ( He continued by suggesting to sport a big pee stain, get a shopping cart and push it down the street puttng garbage in it) You'll be perfectly safe!
Hey Fluxcap- still in my yard now????

Stereotypical response from someone who doesn't get out much to experience what life has to offer. What a boring life we live, when we don't take risks. But, some risks aren't worth taking, like speeding down a curvy road in a car your not familiar with on tires that are worn out and knowing that the cops are patrolling the roads up here quite often. X2 and parking deck + camping? I think this is called urban housing and the bums are experts but I have never tried it. Not sure this is a weekend location. Looks like a great, one day location.peregrine67 wrote:Parking deck? Be sure the clearance is high enough for a bus with a rack. And some of us have hightop and pop-top Westys.coocoo4vdubs wrote: the location is a parking deck easy to secure.

Don't think I have ever heard of a VW car show being held in a parking deck, not sure how that would be. I guess the up-side would be that the weather wouldn't be a problem.....

Not today. Weather channel said it may rain, and your windows tend to fog up on rainy days.

Re: Large Vw show in atlanta
Let me clear a few things up. I see people have concerns on safety. Yes!!! This is part of the shows set up and running, such as cleaning. Everyone at the venue will have on arm bands. For the city to issue a permit, they have to approve of your security plan, and fire codes. The venue is great, only issue I have is height. We can not leave our type 2 brothers out in the cold. Trust me I would not put any of you in harms way. We will lock down the venue as if it was fort Knox. For Example we will put up fencing to block lower level access. Have a licensed Security team in place, Radio com. Golf cart patrols. If you work with us, in a few years we may have the biggest show east of the Mississippi River. This is part of our vision one day I would love to see it international. See I believe this if you are a VW lover the car is not just a car, but a life style. I know this because that’s how I am. I have studied the car so much it has become second nature to me. I have to have a Vw in my life!!!!! I collect the model cars to die cast miniature cars. I will be making a vw hunting trip home to Germany this nov. I am going to try to make contacts to put this show on the map. I WILL BE GOING TO WOLFSBERG AG. That’s why I opened up this forum to get all of everyone’s concerns and wants. So let keep it all constructive so the tool will work properly to insure we maximize the purpose of the forum.

Re: Large Vw show in atlanta
June to mid-July is a dead time for VW shows in this area. Heat is why.

Not going to beat a dead horse, but I have lived in Europe and traveled alot all over the world. I still love these N.W. Ga. mountains and would trade a 1000 Paris' or Atlantas for a laid back small town.
That is just my opinion, but isn't it great that we can all have different ones!
Good Idea on the parking deck though, you should have an area where people can "pose" their car. It seems that alot of the cars that are for sale on the samba are photo'ed in a parking deck or an industrial setting.

Re: Large Vw show in atlanta
The parking deck idea sounds interesting for the show, (no weather problems) but I don't know how it would be for camping. (ever try to drive a tent stake into concrete??) I will remain positive in that this does happen and I am willing to try almost anything atleast once.....
