looking 4 other VWs in atlanta
im new to GA dubs, i have a 73 type 3 squareback, its my daily driver.... after googling and searching i have come across GAdubs and a lot of clubs around town, the bad ting is no one ever updates there pages or sites, so all info is like 3-5 yrs old, looks like ATL Wagens would be the closest to me but there website is just a splash page, no updates anywhere, where are the local meetings, shows, events, rides, etc.... just trying to find like minded people that are into VWs in atlanta, any help would be greatly appreciated... ive heard about meetings at the Varsity but cant find any info on it....

Yeah, just about all the active clubs in Georgia have members on this site. Keeps a watch in the "events" section and you'll see local shows/gatherings pop up. It's close to winter, so it may die down a little, but there will still be a few things pop up in the next month or so surely. Our club (Aircooled Airheads) meets monthly just to hang out and chat about our cars or whatever. We're a little south of Atlanta but anybody is always welcome to come to our get-togethers. You don't have to be a "member" or anything like that. We usually post our get-togethers in the Airheads forum.
I'm not sure if the Varsity still does their thing or not. I went once and don't really plan to go back. There were a ton of cars, but it was mostly tuners and loud stereos. Nothing to obnoxious, just wasn't my scene.

Re: looking 4 other VWs in atlanta
thanks Fluxcap, when is the november meeting? if the varsity is tuners and loud stereos, ill prolly sit that one out... i missed a show in stone mountain on the 3rd and was pissed just cause i didnt know it was happening, as you know being a VW head, i search daily for parts and upgrades, customs, videos, events, and shows and never saw anything till after the shows when people posted there pics, i guess i just have to search even harder... lol

Re: looking 4 other VWs in atlanta
Well, unfortunately, we always meet on the second saturday of the month, so that would have been this past saturday for November. A lot of us actually drove down to the big Bulli Brigade/BugJam show in Florida so I'm not sure if anybody did anything locally.
Our next meet will be December 8th and we are working on planning a cruise. I know we are already a good half hour south of you, and then the cruise is expected to go even further south, so it may be too much driving for you, but just keep an eye on this thread and if you want to make it, feel free to. If not, there is always next time! We usually meet around the Mcdonough/Griffin area.
