Yeah I think it's a new owner. He renamed it to Po Volks.
Re: engine rebuilders

Re: engine rebuilders
IS it a new owner? Can anyone confirm?
I vowed never to go back to northlake again.
My wife was returning an unused still in box rear wheel bearing for me because they sold her some Korean junk.
They yelled/berated her for abt 10 minutes in front of my son and called her a liar saying they would never sell that at their store.
To her credit, she held her own and they finally gave her a refund minus some absurd restocking fee.
If anybody has the low down on this place let me know.
Its abt 5 min from my house.

Re: engine rebuilders
I ran accross Po Volks just this week - as a referal from a friend who mentioned he just happend to pass by it recently. I went out there during lunch on Tuesday to pick up a new throttle cable. The guy was really nice and helpful. He told me when I left that it the part did not fit to bring it back. They have a parts counter and parts in the back - no showroom. You have to ask for the part and he will get it for you. No browsing .
Here is the address and phone number from my receipt:
PO Volks Home

Re: engine rebuilders
If it was someone nice and helpful it must have new owners. Hopefully he can seperate himself from previous experiences and gain some old customers the old owners lost.
Re: engine rebuilders
i just gave them a call - they said it was the same people from northlake
i really wish i could buy from them - would save me a ton of shipping from WW

Don't cave in man. If a business treated my wife that way, there is no way I'd go back and give them a penny of business. Think of those shipping costs as peace of mind that you will be treated with respect.

Re: engine rebuilders
That sucks - you can go out to Hurrell Bug Parts in Cartlton. http://www.herrellbugparts.com/ They have a decent showroom and will do just about anyhing for a beetle. Also they have a decent graveyard. They have always been helpful and retruns or exchanges have been no problem at all.

Re: engine rebuilders
Damn that sucks.Thats prolly why they changed their name, for treating people the way they do. I wouldnt go back either. Guess i wont be giving them a call afterall.
Re: engine rebuilders
yea another guy on sevwc_atl had this story to tell abt them
"I drove my bug in to Northlake to upgrade from a generator to an
alternator. Picked my car up, then went back to get my generator
(which was fine). Kenny looks around, doesn't see it, goes around
back and pulls one off the core pile of generators that he's got
piled up and says it's mine. Later, one of his employees told me
that a car came in that needed a generator, and Kenny told them to
put mine on that car. Let's just say they didn't my a$$ much after
that......"

Re: engine rebuilders
If your looking for parts there is two stores I have nothing but high respect for them. One is in Marietta Ga. on Fair Ground Street and Roswell Rd. ( Foriegn Auto Parts of Marietta) and the other one is in Mableton on Veterans Memorial Hwy 1731 ( IMPART) 770 948 8353.
These stores can get you just about anything.
I used to work at Impart for 7 years.
Would save you from going all the way to Carrollton

Re: engine rebuilders
Theres a guy in Scottdale ,ill have to go out and look up his name. Ive got a few parts from him, he seemed pretty good. He deals with all foriegn cars not just vws anymore.
Re: engine rebuilders
Not to hurt anyone's feelings, but nowadays, the best swingaxle bearings I can get (FAG) are made in Korea. It stinks, but even the Germans are outsourcing in order to improve profits. I hate it.
Re: engine rebuilders
thnks clyde- I should have been more specific- the ones we were returning were not FAG - cant remember now what brand but i had done some research at the time and found the ones they sold us were substandard.
