Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Decided to see how bad the rust was under the luggage area.
Took it out in about 5 minute with little more than some tin snips.

Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
It did feel a little crunchy back there when I pressed on the carpet. Looks like some welding is in order!

I came up with a code L639, there's a company that can mix that up and put it in a spray can for you

Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Rachel was eager to help out by cutting out the rusted battery tray. We epoxy'ed and screwed in the new tray last night. Painting the pans after work today. Then looks like I'm gonna have to remove the pedal assembly and clean it up.
Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
not how I would have done it, but thats awesome to see her work on the car!!! keep up the progress and pics.
Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Yeah, I'm already having second thought about it. I think I was a little too eager to get her on the road. I'm on craigslist right now pricing MIG welders.
Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
if you dont plan on using the welder much I would just take it to someone who can weld it in, safety wise I think its fine. I had a 70 beetle when I was a kid and used plywood to fix the holes, they never fell thru.
Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
I'm gonna lift the body off of the pan on Saturday morning. Anybody wanna come help?
Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
more disassembly.
I really wish I'd have weighed this car before I started taking it apart. I've hosed about 1/3 of a beetle down my driveway in the last 2 weeks.
not much left of this heater channel. but the passenger's side is pretty solid.

Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
I'm gonna eventually bite the bullet and just buy one. Just doing my homework on which one to get.
Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Looks like you guys made some great progress!! I would have liked to lend a hand, but had already planned to help a friend tile his mother's kitchen. The pan looks pretty solid.

Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
No worries.
Yeah, it's really not too bad. A few holes, but other than that it's in pretty good shape.
