Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Upon further inspection it appears to be a linkage issue. She's going into 3rd rather than 1st.
Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Okay if I loosen up the bolts on the gear shift I can get her into all the gears but as soon as I tighten 'em down I lose 1st and 2nd.
Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Are you adjusting the shifter and reverse lock out plate when you loosen the bolts, or are you just loosening and re-tightening? If you are having trouble getting 1st and 2nd, loosen the two bolts and nudge the shifter to the right. Try to hold it in place (nudged over to the right) while you tighten it back up.

Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Do you have a good shift rod bushing and shift coupler? If not do those first. Then I always just loosen the shifter enough that if I shift through the gears the base will move some too. Then I shift 1 through 4 and back to first and tighten both bolts down. Then crank it up and see what you get.

Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
The beam that she came with is slightly bent and it's also about 2 inches higher than it should be. I just want to bring her down a little lower than stock. This beam isn't narrowed so I really don't have the wheel clearance to go much lower.
Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
You should be able to drop it 1.75 inch running stock tires and not rub.

If by "earlies" you mean '66-'67 slotted factory wheels, then yes

Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Dave's wife was upset that I'd taken off the pin striping. I convinced her that it had to come off because of the new doors and the eventual paint job.
Still no luck on the brake lights. It pretty much has to be the sockets. Everything else is good.

I've got a feeling that she wasn't the only one upset about it

Re: '67 Beetle "Judy"
Possibly. But he didn't say anything. He was actually suggesting I paint it red.
