I was thinking of having my trans gone threw and a highway gear put in. Any good shops around?

Re: Transaxle shop
Yes a good bit of folks have used Gene. Eric (Fluxcap) and Bob (RPM750) both have rebuilt transaxles from Gene in their cars.

Aircooled Werk in Ringgold does all most all the trans work now in this area.
He is a stand up guy.
-I have not needed his services, but some others I know have had good service.
He will do exactly what you want, but will also give you advice and options that you may not have thought of.
