Shop in Decatur
Gary - I stopped by the aircooled shop down the street from your shop after I left your shop to check it out and see if I can get some lug nuts for the new wheels. There is no showroom. It looks like he does aircooled and watercooled. He had a Golf up on the lift for something - looks like he might be some competetion for your shop. Lots of aircooled VWs on the lot.
They guy took me around back to a workshop where he was working on rebuilding aircooled engines and transmissions. Lots of good used parts everywhere. I also pickup a new oil filler gasket and new fuel pump gasket along with my lugnuts. I've got to tear down the top of my engine to fix a leak from under the oil cooler. the 6mm stud pulled loose. I got an 8 mm from Fluffy to put in but I need to have evertrhing out of the way to turn the tap.
Anyways - here is the address:

Re: Shop in Decatur
I actually went by there today also. They helped me with my shifter. I modified a bus shifter to work in my bug and they helped me with it. They seemed to be good guys.
Re: Shop in Decatur
Just wanted to let everybody know that this is a really good shop and Bobby really knows his stuff. I actually liked it enough over there that I applied for a job there and I will be starting work there on the 15th of this month. I will be an entry level tech basicly and he will be teaching me on the stuff I don't know. I'm excited about it! One, I needed a full time job but 2nd I will be working with VW everyday. How cool is that?!
Re: Shop in Decatur
That's cool. I wonder if he realizes how valuable it is to have a good mechanic working for him that is active in the aircooled VW comunity.
