The price seems to be in line with what buggys go for. Those wheels would have to go though. I would definitely check how the tunnel shortening was done and how the pans were done.

Most buggy bodies are shorter than a beetle body. So the chassis (original pans and center tunnel) have to have a section cut out and then be re welded back together.  Bryce has some pics somewhere from when he did his buggy I'm sure he'll post which will make it easier to understand.

Here's a diagram showing how much needs to be removed for a Manx.

like Eric said most fiberglass buggies are made for a shortened vw chassis....my buggy you saw on saturday is 14" shorter than a beetle

on mine I had to start over because the cut on the chassis was executed terribly.....

I ended up doing a z cut on the replacement (picture before I welded it)

Doing it this way gave me a flat lip to weld cut down factory pans on

Man I have a lot to learn about these VWs. I thought the fiberglass buggys where just made that way, I didn't know that they came from a beetle frame. One last question about this, Now on the fiberglass bodies on the back seats of them is there enough room for an adult to sit back there and is there enough leg room???? thanks for all the help guys

I would say no to a shortened pan fiberglass buggy for an adult to sit in the back.....maybe one could but it is tight....

That also brings up another area of concern....You need to find out how the buggy is registered? Sometimes people are not all that honest when it comes down to things like this.

I assume they could be registered as a dune buggy, vw kit car, vw roadster or something along those lines...

Yes they make full length buggys that are bigger and sit on a stock pan but most of them look a little odd to me.  Not sure how well they sit four adults though...I assume better than the shortened buggys but you can probably squeeze 4 in a shortened buggy....

Four people in a short Allison buggy

Long version of the same Allison Buggy

This long version looks pretty good though!
