Cant wait,been a while since we participated in this event. We are booked for 12 days in Helen starting Friday.

Anyone driving up on Saturday morning? I'm in the Kennesaw area?

I'm going sometime Friday. Depends on work

Heading up tomorrow afternoon. For those going up on Friday, we typically eat dinner at the Mexican Restaurant on the main street. Eating time depends on everyone's arrival times.

As always, we will have a couple of trucks and trailers and/or tow bars in case anyone has a problem.

We ride rain or shine.

I will be there tomorrow after noon. Gota get unloaded at the ranch and wait for the wife n kids. Might cruise through if timing permits.

Well, the first attempt to get to Helen failed. Scooters alternator died, the bearings failed, 2nd attempt in my wife's 2008 beetle, still in progress.

Thanks to all who made it out. A little rain at the start, but it cleared, and turned out to be a great day. No wrecks or break downs. A handful showed up in non-VWs (I totally understand how life sometimes doesn't allow things to be fixed in time). Loved seeing Theresa hang out the Jeep's sunroof taking pics. Pat won an alternator, so we expect to see Scooter next year:-)

As Clyde said, thank you to all who came a cruised the mountains with us. It was good to meet the new folks and to see all the regulars. Thanks to the sponsors that donated the prizes, I think over half the participants went home a prize.

The cook-out was again a great success, dispite a poorly timed rain shower.

We made it and had a great time. Thanks to the Athens vw club for being great hosts again and yes I won the alternator with the third best poker hand of three of a kind 3's.

Edit: The alternator installed easily, with my daughters small hands. The front bearing was shot, going to try and get it rebuilt locally

The Kennedy family had a great time. Thank you again for putting the event together, Met some new friends and really enjoyed everyone's company. Can't wait to see the pictures that Theresa took. Look forward to next year...
