My Late 71 camper! drop zone
anyway having hard time getting pic up ! havethe whole bus in bare metal as of yesterday rear corners were rusted out have all 4 pieces for the back to rear corners coming in tom. and have taken weds. off to weld it all in and get my baby in primer. have a 2000cc pancake motor going in it . does anyone have any suggestions on lowering it want it sitting low. this is only my second vw first was a 71 super and it was trash i used it as an over sized go kart. but what im not completely understanding is the how the torsion bar adust and works i would like to go air ride with bus since you can go up and down i have done on trucks b4 but never a vw. or could i get a good lowered sance with driveability with adjusting the torsion drop spindles and lowering plates? any advice would greatly be appreciated.....

If you plan to call Nate, better call him sooner than later. Very nice products, but he is severely under staffed in his shop and gets behind on orders. He was always very apologetic and honest about delays when I was calling to check on the status of my disc brake kit though. I guess it shows his stuff is in high demand, just wish he would hire some extra help to keep orders moving!

Good help is hard to find very very hard to find. I would save your pennies and order a drop beam spindles and boomering plates . A good safe airride is expensive and wouldn't put it on anything I hadn't planned on keeping for life bro good luck

Re: My Late 71 camper! drop zone
If u just need a beam spjndles an plates send me a pm I no a can do a air bag be Iyam also just shoot me a pm
Re: My Late 71 camper! drop zone
the part i dont understand is the beam with airride im assuming you do away with the inside springs . i know on a truck you would do away with leaf springs and put a four link on it but i definatly want it safe i will prob start of with drop spindles and plates dont know much about the beam but i keep being told ill need a more narrow one. Im doing most of the work now over at the bugs for christ shop for now we meet only on mondays but im over there bout 4 times a week . doodle bug ill definatly get with ya soon as the body is done which should be a couple of weeks at most hopefully!!! ill keep everyone posted. good airide can be expensive but like everything got to spend a lil more to do it right. i plan on keeping it a very long time if not forever .

Re: My Late 71 camper! drop zone
The Narrow beam will help a lot also go ahead and clearence front fenderwells while you are doing bodywork only take out what you need to clear your choice of rim and tires. You will have to know what kind of rim and tires you will run so you can do the math to figure out how much to narrow beam. There are lots of options for rims for a bay that look great. I will tell ya if your doing the airride for sure buy it staightout and don't waist your time buying anything else. Order the narrowed air ride beam from nate you won't be disappointed. You want to keep the torsion springs removal of these is never recomend in this case. These beams come with them and make them much better than anything else I have seen out there.

What a big waste of money. I have entire cars that I have less in that I drive. Just leave the bags to the chicks and static drop that thing with doodle beam, spindles and drop plates and build yourself a garage for it with the money saved.
Re: My Late 71 camper! drop zone
Well just let me no every thing I do is scrach built we can do air or hydrolics thats what im thinking for me I will hook you up an bay beams are one week turn around not a couple of weeks
Re: My Late 71 camper! drop zone
i know airbags cost a bit more than droppingit but i have went thru tons of bumpers and body kits with honda . Oil pan plugs on trucks . and i have got a terrible drive way at work to go up.itll be a keeper so i want it done with air ride hopefullly itll get some of the younger crowd to bugs4christ as well. yea doodle bug ill most likely be coming to you wagenswest looks good but im not balling with loads of cash! but its getting done.... working all weekend hopefully next we will get the sheet metal done.!
