Speedometer Repair
I'm looking for a tutorial, a video, or just advice on how to rebuild a speedometer. My '67 speedometer is really noisy. New cable and I've oiled the cable too.
Re: Speedometer Repair
Try this, I used it for mine. The colored folder tabs work pretty good. I made up some leds for back lights. I replaced the plastic gear with a brass gear. I reset the odometer and greased everything http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=179776&start=10

Re: Speedometer Repair
Here's another good one. Probably very similar to the thread above, but this one is specific to the 67 and earlier speedometers

Re: Speedometer Repair
Thanks for the links. I think it turned out great. Reset the odometer, no squealing and the lights are all the right color now.
Re: Speedometer Repair
It looks great. It's not that hard to make it look nice. If you feel real adventurous led's really brighten the speedometer. Just search for how to wire a single led
