"Bell" my 66 vert
Just thought I would start a thread for the vert.
Its a 66 vert that was originally Yukon Yellow but was repainted sometime in the 80's. I'm not 100% but I think it is now sea blue. I got the Bug from Edwinn who bought it from the original owner. It has a newly rebuilt 1300 in it and I have the original engine as well that I am going to rebuild and eventually put back in. Interior seems to be original except for the drivers seat. It has been replaced at some point. I need to put a new steering box in it and do some brake work but otherwise she runs and drives great!
She had a starting issue and I thought it was the starter but after getting under the car I saw some bad connections. I fixed those and she seems to be starting fine. Also coming home from the club meet last night the headlight were almost non existant. It's still 6v but they were not bright at all. I started checking wiring and everything looked good I finally pulled the actual headlights out and they had 2 brand new 12v headlights Now she has correct 6v headlights and all is good again
Anyways here is some pictures. I'll post some more soon

Re: "Bell" my 66 vert
She's a beaut Gary! Thats a good looking car!
I came home from the hospital (first car ride!), grew up in (family of 7 going to church!) and learned to drive in a blue '66 my folks had. It was a metal sunroof model. I've got a very sentimental appreciation for those.
Are the solid rims OG? I'm not 100% sure, but I thought Dads old Bug had holes. Enjoy!!!

That's awesome! I love hearing stories like that :-)
The og wheels are slotted.it came with the original slotted wheels and Smoothies. I just like Smoothies better :-)
Bugs had the Smoothies up to 65 then 66 & 67 had the slotted wheels.

The first Beetle that I started driving was a Savannah Beige 1966 with a 1500cc engine- brings back memories!

Finally got the stance done. I dropped the rear today two splines and installed the drop spindles on my 5 inch beam that Tim built for me.
